If you are not using it, GO AND DOWNLOAD IT NOW! Its awesome.
Be sure to download some skins to. I downloaded the J5 skin and the Metallica skin. best of all its free and you can get it here.

www.winamp.com

Don't worry dial-up users, (like me) it only took about 45 minutes to download. To get the skins click on the skins tab. Tell me whitch one you're using too. (if you don't mind.)

I use 3.0, but I personally not happy with it compared to the older version. you can no longer use the 'b' button function anymore to foward songs - plus it uses more resources then the older version.

Yes. I also don't like winamp 3.

I use 2.9 or 2.7? And thats just fine for me. I think I might get Winamp 5.

5? Eh?

I'm stuck in 2.9 land. Winamp 2.9 just blows everything away. And I've been using Winamp since ... well I think it was pre 1.0 days back in 1997, six years ago on my Pentium II 266 with 64mb of memory.

I get a lot of talk about iTunes from my Apple friends and the people I work with (ad agency, bunch of Macs). But frankly, it sucks for an mp3 player. It's dog slow and eats through memory like it was candy. It does have cool features for manipulating mp3s, though. You can set the volume indapendantly on each mp3 and such.

But for me, it's Winamp 2.9 all the way. It's effecient, and effeciency is number one to me.

I prefer iTunes, but when i need a winamp, i'll use 2.9. iTunes is MUCH faster than winamp3 but still slower than winamp2...but it's a better overall player for me...especially since I have an ipod

I'm using 5 RC8 right now. But for some reason it doesn't play well with CDs. So if I play a CD I use 2.9x.

Winamp 5 uses a lot fewer resources than both 2 and 3.

Edit: Oooh, I just discovered Release Candidate 10 was, well, released. Check it out at Major Geeks.com

I have used every version and I like 5RC8 the best. I have a crap-ass PC and it seems to run best on it. It looks great, is functional and uses low resources. 👍

Which is what I was meaning. 👍

I was not impressed by Winamp 3 at all.

Winamp 5 blew them right out of the water IMO.

I don't use winamp, simply because it requires space on the hd. My desktop back at home has it, and it is pretty nice at version 3, but I need to evaluate space I use on the laptop, because I like to use it for other important programs.
