Let's get something straight. I've never had any interest in this sport, but I'm wandering around ESPN's website, and I stumble upon the Carolina Hurricanes' record.

What in the world is a team from North Carolina doing at the top of professional hockey?!

I hope they win the Stanley Cup. Yay Hurricanes! XD
 
You do realize that they made it to the Stanley Cup finals in 2002? This isn't the first time they've had a decent year.

Yeah, every game they play against the panthers winds up in our misfortune. Damn Hurricanes. We're not good with hurricanes...

Detroit and Nashville are boosted by the fact they play in the NHL's weakest division. I heard a stat on HNIC that only 3 Western Conference teams were below .500. I couldn't believe it, so I went online, and to my surprise it was true. The three teams that aren't? Well, they all play in the Central Division. The Wings and Predators must be so happy they get to play Columbus, Chicago, and St. Louis so many times :)

I suppose that speaks volumes of the media in the southeast. You'll have to excuse me; I forgot that the Stanley Cup finals are during NASCAR season. Probably no mention of the NHL until page 15 of the sports section. Dale Jr. swears on national TV?! Now that's news! :lol:
 
NHL is almost never covered here. I haven't seen a hockey game without the panthers playing since the lockout ended. They're always on the crappy ass regional networks too.
