So I was just going through my collection, and BF: BC2 pops up, so I pop it in!

And I was taken aback the moment the first level from the 1944 or 42 mission starts...mannn o man.. where did these visuals come from?!

The texture detail is crisp and just drop dead gorgeous. Excellent lighting and brilliant use of colors. It does look photo realistic and jaw droppingly good at times. I often found myself wandering off the battleground with that timer kicking in.. just to admire the beautiful visuals.

So what happened with BF3 and 4? It does not look nearly as impressive on the X360. Is the original Frostbite actually better?

Good eye.

I noticed the same thing immediately when the Bad Company series was released. Graphics looked worse than BF2. I mentioned the same thing but not many seemed to notice it too so I just dropped the subject. The simple answer is they had to reduce graphics for all the destructible environments that were added to the series with BC, BF3, and BF4. BF4 actually looks really bad on the X1. Worse than BF3 on the 360 especially the rocks and scenery. Actually just had that discussion about a week ago about BF4 and BF3. That happened because now the game has 64 players. BF2 also had a really fun campaign. Swapping instantly from helicopter pilot to sniper to tank was very innovative.

As they add more content to games, they usually have to take away from something. Same has happened with quite a few other games. Or some go the opposite way and add better graphics, yet take away content. Hard to get the perfect balance on consoles.

Overall gameplay is always the most important to me but it is a bummer sometimes when you see a game graphically go backward.

I don't know about BF2 but I was playing that PSN multiplayer mini game BF 194(2?) and it looked dated but impressive, the PS3's gamma levels sort of destroyed it though, it looks bland and washed out.

BF3 still looks good on PS3 aside from the horrible aliasing, texture pop in and framerate but BF4 is definitely a downgrade. It almost feels like COD, even the animations.

Yeah, it is unfortunate. I personally think BF4 did not look impressive at all on the X360 either, and BF3 had noticeably better visuals. However, they do not come close to BF Bad Company 2 or the second game - the gameplay is tremendously good.

The same can actually be said for the COD games: COD 3 and WAW looked eerily gorgeous. MW triliogy..mehhh... though BOs 1 and 2 were good, but not quite the level of detail and visual polish in the WWII/post WWII era CODs.

Yeah I wasn't impressed at all with the visuals in BF4.. it looked as if running on a low-end PC. I'm on X360. BF3 was somewhat better but only by a slight margin.

BF2.... drop...dead.... gorgeous!!

We talk here about Battlefield 2 on PC?! I still have the game and played it a while ago I played it everything maxed out and I didnt see any of the beauty you describe here?! Are we talking about the same game?

:odd:

Umm.... no... this can't be it. I'm talking about Battlefield Bad Company 2 on the X360, DICE + EA - released in 2010.

What is that atrocity you're showing us!!?

I thought you were talking about Battlefield 2 Modern Combat.

That looks like the original Battlefield 2...which you sort of lead (me at least) to believe was what you were talking about.

...and BF2 pops up...
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is normally written as BF:BC2 - it is a very pretty game though. Dice recently talked about why they haven't done a third Bad Company game yet. I'll find the link for you a bit later.

EDIT: Here you go: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2014/06/24/dice-reveals-why-theres-no-battlefield-bad-company-3

And a Gameinformer article in response: http://www.gameinformer.com/b/featu...en-we-talk-about-battlefield-bad-company.aspx

You may also want to edit the thread title so we might get what it's all about.

Ahh now here we go :)
BFBC2 you said BF2 which gave us this false interpretation.

Oh I didn't know the abbreviation in the gaming world for this game was written like that.

Sorry peeps, dat be mah bad yo!

I'm enjoying the living daylights outta this game. What astounding atmosphere. Almost photo realistic. Feels like a real gun fight out of a military movie. I love the script too.. your AI squad mates feel like actual people.

DICE should bring out a third Bad Company game. They must!!

Edit: @CAMAROBOY69 Thanks for posting those links.

Really is too bad there's no third game being worked on. BC2 is a pure work of art. It's a classic. haven't had this much fun in a military FPS since the original MW or COD 3. Actually now that I think about it.. BF BC2 beats them clean, in a lot of aspects.
