It seems lately that there are a lot of games out there trying to give into the underground racing scene (duh)

my thoughts on this are, stop making them, i can only beat the bad guy in so many diff games with a skyline (which in reality is not in the underground racing scene). And im kinda tired of the "pimp my ridez" customization, a little bit is good but i think NFSU2 killed it, at least for me.

anyway, your thoughts?

EDIT---

This doesnt include Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune, that game is beyond any other "underground" racing game. Point 1 to Point 2 is better than tiny tracks with ass loads of stuff to plow into while trying to go 150 mph, i think the other underground games (like NFSU1) would have been better off keeping the max speed u reach in the game around 100 or less, i mean you're going through a heavy traffic / populated city, whos gonna hit over 100?

It's popular, it sells.

Allot of younger people can't handle GT physics and alot don't like driving cars they'll never drive.
Other find building a dream 'custom car' is better than a dream exotic.

I can think of a few underground racing game cars i'll never drive, lol,but i get what u mean.

NFSU2 tried harder with the physics with the tuner area, where u can tune the ride, but i dont think it made a whole it of diff when u raced.

Well, the one thing I don't like is that they all try to make the RX-7, Supra RZ, and espcially the SKyline R34 GT-R the best cars.

They aren't. Which is why I'm loving Midnight Club 3. A very, very awesome selection of cars.

oh and i love how u can hookup escalades or wtv, hummers and stupid **** like that in the game, tlak about giving into the hiphop scene

Actually Midnight Club 3 is a great game since there is something for everyone, but people like acarde racing games that are entertaining and something they can give their own touch to. I love custom car games.

Plus I just don't think you understand the concept of marketing.

Like Blazin said, its got something for everyone.

Tuners, Choppers, Speed Bikes, Exotics, Concepts, and more.
There's much more to MC3 than the SUVs although the game does try hard to make them big parts of the game.

Oh well, these are quite good cars, especially if you look at their price .... a fully tuned Skyline is a monster indeed... hard to beat...
I'm no diehard underground fan, but I like it more than games that only have cars like Enzo, Carrera GT, SLR, McLaren F1 & Co....

want my opinion? im sure you probably dont as i am biased against thiese crap line up of s**t.

the only way it can work is if there are race circuits, good races, half decent AI, more than 30 cars, and the oppurtunity to not do chavvy **** custom rice jobs but to actually turn into a race car.

oh wait, thats forza, my bad

I just wish the Underground series was simply a spin-off of NFS. I would kill for a new exotic-themed Hot Pursuit.

Yes, I know we have a new NFS coming out but Im trying not to get my hopes up.

Hey I find that as quite offensive but, yes it is true many young people don't like GT. I'v been in it since I was 6. By the time I was 8 I knew all you had to know about cars(From whats in GT1).
Now I really hate Midnight Club 3 that is the stupidist game ever produced and, as for NFSU2 I wasted $60!

Wow you haven't played very many games have you? The worst game ever produced? Hmm thats a tough one but it's definatly not Midnight Club 3 or NFSUG. You don't make a bad game and not have millions buy it.

I don't know what everyone has against Midnight Club, it delievers what it promises, a game with many customization options and arcade racing. You won't find a game out right now that matches MC3's customization options.

But you are young so I'll go easy on you.

No MC3 is stupid you can get like a 100 mp/h speed boost from a little bit of NOS. The customization isn't bad but it's just so bloody unrealistic.

Well since it's an arcade game it doesn't seem all that unreasoniable. The customization isn't unrealistic at all. Go to any car show with those kinds of ride and you will see thats how they look.

Hey you could take your 911 and your M3!

The new and gay NFS:Most Wanted will be every rice-boys dream. They will get to run from the cops AND drive a riced out Honda Civic that they think could actually,in real life,go 200 MPH.

The monopoly EA is so busy thinking about the millions of riceboys out there that they completely ****piled their old and good NFS:HP series. What happened to my Dodge Vipers,Ford Mustang SVT Cobras,Lamborghini Murceilagos,Ferrari F50s,McLaren F1's and the like? All EA seems to want to do today is force you to rice your car out to win a game.I know it's marketing technique, but what the heck?

Hiya! :D :O  Meow! (='.'=)

Harsh, but sounds reasonably true. I can type many pages to support what you said, but I'll save it for the appropriate thread! :O

Well, all I can really say is that the reason why all these underground racing type of game really came around is because of the street culture that is happening now. There are probably more people who love to "rice" out their car because they simply can't afford to make their car go fast. It is very costly for them to make their Honda just to keep up with faster cars like a stock Camaro/Firebird/Mustang. So then you got this trend of cosmetic thing going on since they probably think that making the car look fast will attract girls...but it doesnt attract me one bit.....

Game companies then see the potential of this ricing culture that have possibly taken over the idea of making a car go fast. Made it, it sells big, make it again, sells big.

It's all strictly business and we all shouldn't take it so seriously at times. If you were to own a car shop, I bet you would sell all these body kits and such because it sells. Even if you don't like it yourself. :dunce:

This is all my opinion and I hope I won't get flamed for this! :O

PS. Sometimes I like to classify my car taste as the American Muscle:

Rice = 👎

American Muscle = Rev the motor and send the ricers home. :O :)

Nope not for me. There was no Mazda RX-7. :grumpy: That ruined it all for me.

mc3 was a great game. nfsug2 may have had an equal amount of customising, well apart from better cars, custom paint, roof chops..ok not as much but at the time it had quite a bit, nfsug2 was boring as hell which really annoyed me :indiff: id like to see more in depth customising theres only so much you can do with vinyls and body kits. i wanna see stuff decked, shaved, channeled so much more than just a handful of ugly bolt on junk. and engine swaps! so you can get rid of that crappy inline 4 for something worth tuning in the first place! basically people wanna have somethin different to the next guy and only now are racing games starting to deliver

nothing i said had anything to do with the topic, so ill re write it.

I love games like Wangan and the 1st NFSU, but what kills me is all these HORRIBLE spin offs, thats what my rant is about.

Most wanted could be that.

Another car I found out that's in Most Wanted was in a short video on G4 showing a modified C6 Corvette. Not bad really.

So far, I haven't seen any giant bodykits from the screenshots of trailer of Most Wanted, so I hope it stays that way.

Well, gaming is all about finding the right markets. The big market now is illegal street racing. I'm not all about hating on "ricers." I've usually said that I kind of "grown up" around them. I am an art person, and I can appreciate personalization. Would you rather stand out or be just another driver?

Let me ask an alternative question to prove my point. If you ask "why so many others are coming out with underground racing games," I alternatively ask "why so many others are coming out with clone games with little or nothing to offer to a dominant franchise. Look at Gran Turismo. It was a great franchise just building up in the first few years. Gran Turismo gets more popular, now here comes Sega GT, Driving Emotion Type-S, Auto Modellista, hell- Forza Motorsport... these other games trying to get a piece of the pie and try to go one up on or beat the proverbial 800-pound gorilla. Some succeed, some fail. Some even become completely underrated or overlooked. For this reason, so many want their share of the underground racing deal. I don't think some try to be the next big thing. Some are just out there to provide alternatives or to market their racing product inspired by the bigger franchises. Is it moral? Yes. Is it right? In the sake of business, yes. When you're the CEO of a gaming company and you want to try to take down a bigger franchise (for example, pretend you're the head of Forza Motorosport, trying to take down Gran Turismo, which according to EGM Magazine, FM succeeded), wouldn't you want to make a racing game to try to beat the bigger game? You play underdog in an effort to knock off a bigger franchise, or at least have some better features than the bigger franchise. You take those chances to try to be the best in the business. Pass or fail, you have a chance to sound off and take a stand.

Then in relation to spinoffs, I guess you try to diversify your brand. For example, if you have only Hondas and Toyotas as an illegal street racing game, you try out American muscle cars and American compacts. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. You'll never know, so you try anyways. That's why you make the sequels and spinoffs. You try to offer the fun of the original game, but make it at least positively better than the predecesor. It is not easy, but if done right, mission accomplished. Maybe even get special recognition for it.
