Why all this tire smoke in the front?

I don't know why this happens with every one of my cars, whether a road car or a race car. When I turn at a speed of about 80-100mph, I get loads of front tire smoke. When racing on Deep Forest Raceway, my front tires usually become worn half way after only 5 laps. Now, I usually like to lower the front a bit, but I feel I might be stiffening the springs way too much. For example, if I drop the ride height 10mm, I stiffen the spring rate @ +10. If I drop it 15mm, I add +15 to the Spring rate. Is this too much? Or is the tire smoke normal? I noticed when racing online that most drivers don't get the tire smoke.

Have you checked to see if you have the ABS on?
If you don't have ABS on, then your problem is most likely locked brakes.

If its not that; are you using a wheel?
If so perhaps your steering angle is to agressive for the speed and angle at which your entering the turn.

Hope this helps,
If all else fails, mash the gas and turn your front wheel smoke into rear wheel smoke. :D
have fun,
Rusty

ABS always left on for the newer cars, I only take it off on old cars. This happens to my cars with ABS all the time so it's not that. And yes, I'm using a wheel, perhaps I'm just pushing the car? I must say, I'm not a slow driver, I win often enough to know I can be very fast on some of my favorite tracks, but still worry that the tire wear might cost me some races here and there, especially in races with more than 7 laps or so.

You're getting front tire smoke from scrubbing the tires. The front tires are slipping, smoking, and wearing faster. It simply means you're turning the wheel too much. I get it on certain turns with certain cars (typically FWD). The fix would be to run a wider line and take some weight off the front tires.

It could also be wheel spin on a FWD car, but since the OP said it happens on call cars I assumed it was the above cause.

If you're using the wheel it is most definitely because your are turning the wheel to much to the left or right. You'll have to learn to only twist the wheel 180 degrees at most while driving. I used to have the same problem and the only fix to it is simply to learn not to turn the wheel over itself to many times rather only twisting it 90 degrees either way.

Sometimes you have to turn the wheel quickly, especially when braking late. I don't think you can turn the wheel more than 90 degrees when driving fast or you'll spin. I do turn it fast after a late brake into a turn, if you don't turn fast, you're going off track...and I hate braking early, it's no fun !
