Don't understand. Own a game for about a month now.
Conclusion: Online is by far the worst part(or may I say the only thing that makes me say "bad experience" and "GT5" in the same sentence)

All ppl are concerned about is "who span who out" and even if they did It themselves and no one knows bc of ridiculous lag they still have to tell on you or go to great lengths(which is pathetic) to get u banned like 5 y olds. or to spin u out and make them selfs feel better.
No one is just chill when I go online it's like f girl drama in EACH room. By accident pulled a race car "sorry bout to change it" doesn't matter - kick.
Terrible boohoo aftertaste
So over it. I prefer bots to this zoo to be honest.
It's SAD to say I had better online experience in motostorm where nasty tricks and scum are lot more common. Oh well.

Online is great, you should add some clean racers from GTP.
My connection is so bad I can't play very often but the guys I have added from this site will never "spin you out"

They are fast, fair and friendly.
Most GTP guys take pride in racing clean, they will not bump or smash or cut.
They won't cut your driving line, and will back off coming into a bend if they are slightly behind and there is no room. It makes for some great rage free races

If I ever venture into a public lobby though, get ready to be smashed down the inside on every bend etc etc. rage

I have a full friendslist of GTP guys, so there is always a few lobbies available when Im looking

A lot of the hosts online have been playing GT5 for a long while now and expect a certain amount of professionalism.

It's not very noob friendly in some rooms but you will find the chill/relaxed rooms. You just gotta watch out for the die hard hosts that will kick you for just sneezing over the mic during a race.

They day GT5 online is shut down is the day the game disk becomes a door stop. I can't find anything worth doing except online. People are much better than the AI, races can be set up with proper options (longer than 2 laps, cars are even, full damage, tire wear, etc), and you're not limited by the poor selection in GT Mode.

If you can't find a room you like in the open lobbies, make your own room or join a league or spot race on this website.

Online is by far the best part. Some hosts kick you for odd reasons now and then but don't take it personal. Just move on to the next room.

Some things you can do to not only minimize the risk of getting kicked but also improve the general conduct in the room is to communicate with the other drivers. Congratulate them for winning, thank them when you had close battles, apologize when you had an incident (even if you don't think it was all your fault). You'll find that this helps to making the room a lot better.

Last piece of advice: Try shuffle racing. I find that those rooms are the best. You can't tune the cars and as the car you get assigned (by chance) plays a big part in where you're gonna finish in the race, the prestige is not as important as in some other rooms.

Don't worry, there are clean racers out there, you just have to look out for them. Also, I go online to look for drifting lobbies.

Look for "clean" races
Have your car set up before you look for a lobby
Ask a question if you are not sure of anything...tires,cars,etc

You will find good hosts and poor. When you find a good one remember the name; race with them a few times, and send a friend invite.

Join a league here on GTP, I'm sure you'll have a great experiance.

Don't give up on online so fast. Lots of good suggestions have already been made. And yes just searching for a good room can be extremely frustrating and time consuming.

My begineer experience was similar but once I got into some clean rooms, the rush of racing real people made GT5 a whole new experience. There was no turning back. After getting some confidence online, I joined a casual race group from GTP. That's when things got really fun and still are over a year later.

If you're looking for clean fun and fast hit me up, or check out our group

Don't give up on online, it's the best part of the game. You just have to find the right people to race with.

It's the internet, what did you expect? It hasn't changed much since AOL introduced online communities back in the 80's...just gotten much bigger and much worse!

I started late with GT5 (about a couple months ago) and didn't care much for the offline mode. It's online where the game comes alive for me and I really enjoy racing.

I've been having difficulty finding good lobbys to race online, though. I have lost count of the number of races lost because someone rammed me from behind or put me off the track to keep from being overtaken, but the times when I do find a good lobby with clean, fair racers, really make up for the bad experiences.

You should be friending these people then.

Let's start right now, then. :-)
My psn is: jucksmanBR. Whoever wants to Fr me will be welcome.

What is your psn, Jaywalker?

You can have a good online experience but it takes some experience and practice. Best advice is, don't go into rooms that are poorly defined. If a room is wide open with no PP limits, avoid it like the plague. Use the "Skid Recovery Force off" filter and stick to lower PP rooms and you'll have a better chance of finding clean racing.

If you're looking for good, competitive online racing with a relaxed atmosphere and an environment where you can laugh and learn and improve your skills, check out eliterevolution.com and go to the forums to sign up.

I also host races nightly, clean & relaxed. Many skill levels, so all are welcome to join. 10p CST US. Send me a message on the PSN and I'll get you the room number.

Online is the only reason to even buy this game. Check my sig for some good online groups.

I only join "free runs", but lately, I'm getting disconnected from every single room.

I wish we could make our own "free" run" offline, with 15 AI of our choice.

Yeah, but once I could win online races in Motorstorm: Apocalypse, I beat the festival with ease. In MSA I always got rammed, spun out, etc. At least you couldn't get kicked there.

There's lots of dumb kids playing GT5 because it's rated "E for everyone." At least there weren't any kids in Motorstorm ("T for Teen").

People will be jerks online. That's just the way it is, unfortunately.

Wow! Lots of responses and everyone has very valuable things to say. Thank you and I shall look into private clubs and teams.

Haha it's a silly question but do they work like guilds in MMOs? U PM a leader or something? Drop him email?

No, just post to the thread in 99% of the cases.

Yeah its all about who you know there are a lot of kids out there that don't know what they are doing on the track gotta get some realistic racers.

Btw I have been away from GT5 for a while (taking a break) and looking to get back into the online scene and looking for some cool people to chill and do some friendly racing with. Anyone feel free to hit me up all the people I used to drive with are gone :(

PSN: Subie_Sleeper

I sometimes host lobbies online, I run everything for Karts to F1, but usually different kinds of street cars. Feel free to join, I run the room with an iron fist, or at least I try to, I can only do so much :p

I think my IQ dropped after reading this...

The only thing I bother with online is free running around a track (mostly the TGTT) or a proper race. I can't be bothered with these BS chicken run lobbies with no penalties or PP limit.
