Why can I hear cars revving when the false start is on?

While waiting to start I can hear cars revving even though false start is on.
Is this an advantage to wheel users who can hold the brake and rev at the same time?

If so is there a way for PD to stop it as it gives them an advantage at the race start.

Thanks.

Controller users can do it too. You just have to have the buttons mapped so you can use gas and brake at the same time.

Thats where I am going wrong!
I use right stick for accelerate and brake.
Have not tried it with handbrake on. Will give it a go.

Thanks

Handbrake and rev at the same time.

I'm not sure about GT6 but in GT5 this would result in a false start every time, you needed to use the brake button.

There is absolutely no performance advantage from doing this, so its nothing to worry about. Folks are just trying to do what real racers do I guess.

Really? I'm sure I used to do it that way in F1 races...

There, I will outright disagree, there's a big advantage to being able to rev the engine up to launch in Gran Turismo, and holding the handbrake is the best way to do so, at least when using a wheel.

I use the handbrake as well, but on a DS3.

Yeah sorry, I meant just reving before the start not at launch. It can improve the launch for sure though. I was thinking back to the days of GT1 where reving before a start would speed the car up but it had nothing to do with the launch RPM's or getting a better launch it was simply faster (probably a bug).

Square = brake, X = throttle, hold across with your thumb and bob's your auntie.

No in GT5 and GT6 you only false start if your car starts moving before the start signal. The only cars you need to be careful about are FF cars because using the handbrake will not stop the front wheels from spinning in which case you need to use clutch (if you have one) or brakes instead.

I just put the brakes on. Because of the way I put my thumb over the brake and throttle, I get very good starts from it.

Haven't done anything with False Start Check in GT6, but in GT5, if I could time it right, I could get off the line as soon as START appeared, so it was/is possible to get an advantage, but just revving the engine won't do it.

Also, I've noticed that brake response with the wheel is much quicker to respond to inputs than compared to the controller. Probably has to do with pedals having a 1:1 input where controller is a gradient in how it responds to inputs. Always noticed that releasing the brakes instantly with the DS3 wouldn't be an immediate release of the brakes in-game.
