Why do neither of my 3 microphones work?!

They used to work fine when I first had Vista, but now, none of them work...I went into control panel, but nothing, I went to sound -> input, but nothing...

Any ideas? The only menu I seem to have to fiddle with the mic options is in the sounds menu, a menu which is far too limited of I compare it to XP's sounds menu...

Does Vista react at all ("Found new Hardware", etc) when you plug it in? Are they USB or 1/8 jack?

If they are 1/8" (or no other USB devices work) look inside the case and see if the leads are connected to the proper pins on the motherboard. Assuming you are hooking them up to a front/top/side panel.

It's a pink plug on the side, it once asked me how to use it, I clicked "as microphone" and "always use this setting". Ever since I clicked that option, it stopped working...

Double click on little speaker icon. Go to - options- properties- then make sure the sound card is selected (make sure it's the correct one if you have more than one sound card).

There should also be a tick box to select the recording device in the main screen.
