What is it with you and pills? :p Seriously, though, good question. Here's an article which discusses the branding behind prescription drug names. The popularity of certain letters appears to be an issue of novelty and popularity than anything else.

To me, the odd spelling of drug names has always made them sound more serious than the illness/dysfunction that it treats... well, that, and the random concoction of side effects that they can produce.

"Put an end to dry, itching skin! Warning, may cause blindness, errectile dysfuncion, scurvy, hair loss, dizzyness sometimes resulting in a mild case of death, nausea, and typhoon waves of diarrhea"

...Thanks, but I'll keep the dry skin.

I wish I could use this trend to my advantage and find a way to filter out emails with words containing too many x's and z's. I don't know what mailing ring my account ended up in, but it seems like I get 30 emails a day, all from different random senders, with some new wonder drug.

There has always been only one wonderdrug: Fucidol.
