Is it just me or this statement is a bit incongruous?

Real important things for GT5 to be a real driving Sim that need changing:

• Qualifying times -if you cut corner, you would get invalid time(red numbers like in licenses);
• Slipstream is ridiculous- if you drive properly and against a fast pilot (meaning 10/20 laps in a row and really close) you know what I’m talking about, and it ruins satisfaction and Simulation.
• Flags during race- if you cut corners during race, push someone out of track and don’t give positions back, then black flag and would auto drive to pits for run-through/disqualification.

Those are some of the most important to me and what’s frustrating is that they are so simple to implement, if PD would play the game as it´s supposed to be and at a high level not the arcade they sadly turned GT5 in. Am I one of the few to see/think this way? I sincerely hope not.

Reckon the fault is also of GT5 users/players that don´t give the right feedback at developers, I found scary to say the least that with the serious flaws stated above when you see people´s wishes/feedback for next update/patch are gold helmets with pink dots, transform 300 standard cars in premium, be able to put stickers and neon in cars…leaves me speechless.

Take care all and good races (if possible).

With all due respect, your beating a dead horse. The only thing that is true to life is real life

Those are not very serious issues. Just simple decisions to make gameplay more enjoyable. Even if they added those features, GT5 wouldnt be simulation. The PHYSICS make the sim, not rules. At the moment, the level of gt physics arent there yet.

You make some good points but making it too realistic defeats the fact its a game. If it was so realistic i imagine it would be frustrating for people who aren't skilled :)

If GT5 was a "real driving simulator" we would be able to change tire pressures.

A sim, GT5 isn't quite there yet. I agree with the OP, all these could be put in the game easy. It boggles me to wonder why in an early screenshot, flag systems were there, and in the final build, they were not. Its rules and realism that make a SIM game, at the moment I'm gaining insane speeds because of an unrealistic draft system. Come on PD...

If GT5 was a REAL driving simulator, my wife would be in the right surround speaker yelling "Jesus H. Christ, SLOW DOWN, you almost HIT that guy!!!"

But I agree with OP -- or at least they could have "difficulty" levels where, say, the amateur level is more forgiving. Playing online though, people will usually punish you enough for such transgressions.

While I agree that the things OP listed would make the game much better along with many other additions, the term "The Real Driving Simulator" is just a tag line or a slogan and nothing more, it holds no meaning nor is it ment to be taken as fact.

To give an example of what im saying, a recent Peugeot slogan/tag line "The drive of your life"
Now is that true? Would a Peugeot car realy be the drive of your life? Should it be taken as fact? Of course not, Its just used to entice you into the product by making it sound appealing.

👍

I've said this before, people keep taking things too literally.

It was first called that when? Back then, it wasn't even half as technologically advanced as it is now. Still, GT5 doesn't have the best physics. It's close enough, SORT OF.

Exacly. Why people still complain about this...it's obvious. Schools teaches stuff about publicity ya know.

Another example: "BMW The Ultimate Driving Machine". Is it really the ultimate car? Well now that depends on your opinion, and which model. Certainly everyone will agree that a 323i is not the ultimate driving machine.

Just like GT5, it's just marketing not a promise.

It states itself as a "real driving simulator", not a real race simulator (flags etc).
However I still agree with the op

OP is complaining about driving in the title, but complains about racing (Flags and Qualifying) in the post?

Agree, disagree. Here and there, you know. Though if you could explain the slipstream one, that one I actually don't know much about.

Apexing a regular street corner at max speed using your daily car beats any racing in gt5. Gt5 will always be a game and should be enjoyed at that level.

Because whoever registered the trademark decided so. I could go open a restaurant and call it "Jane's hardware store". My name is not Jane and nor is the establishment a hardware store.

I´m still hoping we get some new Contend to the end of this Month

my priority:

endurance save,
flag system,
all old gt4 tracks

I think they call it Real Driving Simulator because the cars handle like in real and you can do very similar laps like this:

I cannot quite understand why there's so much angst over slipstream and drafting. For those who cycle, drafting can reduce effort of cycling by 30% if u are close (less than 1m) behind at speed of 35kph and above. The effect increase with speed. Experience if yourself if u ride a bike. Elite cyclist can go up to about 80kph without draft (60kph for myself) while with drafting behind vehicles more than 150kph can be achieved. This implies that if frictional wear is not significantly increased, the car behind should gain ridiculous amount of speed behind draft. I am not sure about drafting in high speed racing but the fastest I am close behind another car is at 170kph (about 10m which is too close for comfort) It does make a huge difference to my accelerator once I move out of the slipstream to maintain speed.

It states itself as a "real driving simulator", not a real race simulator,,,,,

That always bugs me when the fanboys bang on about it being a driving game, rather than a racing game. How can you have a true driving simulator if you can only drive on closed circuits!? :dopey:

Does driving necessarily mean driving on the streets though? Still driving isn't it?

I think they call it the real driving simulator because they thought that might increase sales.

They could have called it anything they wanted to...but I guess the marketing people thought this tag line had the best 'ring' to it.

You don't have to agree with it, but since you bought the game, I guess it worked.

g27 drifting is nothing like in real life, its over complicated and I'm just to lazy to learn something thats supposed to give me a "simulation feel" but I know and feel it doesn't.

The physics are ok at best, for a console game there good but it will take a very long time just for the physics to be correct if all they care about is the graphics. *cough, cough kaz*

If they didn't implement good graphics, do you know how much whining and complaining there would be? How else is GT supposed to get sales?

not in graphics :P

Graphics are nice and all but theres no need to spend 4 years just on trying to get this tree looking like this specific green when you could've made more cars or actually all cars premium or better customization or some more love to physics :)

About 60% of the development team of 150 people covers car modelling. I was surprised when I heard this but it explains a lot. It's Kaz's choice and he gets to make it because it's his game. I prefer to have a future proof game anyway.
