just wondering...

some seem to like the thrill of thrashing the opponents... the chequered flag.... the cheer of the crowd.

others not.

some are gamers, some drivers, some neither....

me,... I am a racer!
I dont play many other games...
cept crash bandicoot :p
:odd:
I generally i like an even race, so i dont upgrade too much.

anyhow, my tv prog is comin on soooooo

how bout ewes?:D

Its Fun to see the action especially when you go in reverse in arcade mode, professional on the cheat for L1 + R1, you go backwards on super speedway and bash that Gillet Vertigo race car, and thrash my friends in 2 P mode having the cool cars they cant handle like complex string - level

I enjoy the racing, and am always looking to go that one step further in my skill. The only time GT3 comes out of the PS2 ia when the Sharkport disk goes in. I'm either uploading or downloading a new replay.

I have always held a penchant for racing fast cars, and Skip Barbers school is on my wish list. So GT3 helps take out the frustration of being stuck in commuter traffic.

Need For Speed, Test Drive, Midnight club all suck... i love playing GT3 cause i think it's the only only race game out there that has enough realism on it also i love driving games.

Well, this post pretty much sums up my feelings too. I'm a driver first, a racer-wannabe second, and a gamer distant third. That's why I have no interest in the mega-power hotrods and blow-away races. I've had enough of a taste of competition driving to know two things: 1) I'd absolutely love to do it as a hobby; and 2) there's no way I'll ever be able to afford it. So I settle for approximating it on TV.

GT3 offers the most realistic gameplay available; realistic enough that Grassroots Motorsports suggested it as a good way to stay in practice over the off-season. If it's good enough for them, it's definitely good enough for me.

i wonder why they put F1 cars in this game....i have one but when i try to use it i just blow cars away and end up at least 30 seconds up from them

I love playing it because I'm able to tune cars and do stuff to them I wouldent have the money for :) ( eg. stage 4 turbo for a skyline!) and I love pushing the cars to their limits!

Right now the ONLY reason I'm playing is to reach 100% before my friend. I'm at 96.2% and he's at 81%, so I think I'll win.
I have Formula Gp Cup left in pro, 6 enduros and the two last TT:s. Then I will be @ 100% !!!

Usually I play because I love cars, racing and driving. I only own GT3 for my PS2, so I'm not much of a gamer otherwise...

I play because the roar of the crowd. hahahaha.

neon, grm really suggested it as a learning tool? i love that magazine. id say its the best car mag hands down. no rice and no lamborgini reviews. just mods for cars people actually have. and thaey have pretty good racing coverage. i loved their project e30 m3.

Um, I play GT3 because I like cars! :D

Well, there are two main reasons that I play it:

1) I can't {legally} drive yet, so this is the closest thing that I'll get to a real driving experience.

2) I'll never seek racing as a real career, so, again, this is the closest that I'll get to it!

Yeah, they did. I love that magazine as well - it's the only car magazine I really read, except as an excercise in fantasy. I've subscribed for about 5 years now. They're the coolest - where else can you read reviews of 10-year-old used cars?

I mod all my cars to the hilt: LSD, Stage 3/4, Full suspension, brakes, T3 tires, stg.3 lightweight. My goal is not to beat my opposition, it's to beat myself. I will lap Laguna Seca 10 times in 4 different cars in PREPARATION for a series race, to see which one is quickest. I tweak the settings between runs, and run another 10. I don't quite enjoy racing with the AI's, because they play *really* dirty. After 500+ races in GT3, I got the chance to do a karting school. After driving 150lb. racing karts with 17 horsepower engines, I start to appreciate the G-forces. GT3 is not incredibly realistic when it comes to G-forces, but nobody has come up with a real life sim that portrays that accurately enough, so what we have right now will have to do.

One thing I don't like is the presence of an SMG in every single car. The 787B showed up in the early 90's at Le Mans, and NOBODY used an SMG. Let's get an H-pattern shifter as an option or something.

I wasn't into cars about 2 to 3 years ago,but when GT3 came out,I decided to rent it,and with it's realism look to it,I just died for it,so I had to buy it,then find out more about it.I didn't really understand exactly why I liked it,cause at the time I didn't like cars, but with the more and more I played it,I wanted to find out more about cars,so that's how into racing on GT3 =D,well..that's how I got into racing period, hehe.I also found out many things you could do on GT3,rather than just racing,I found out you could drift on it,spin around and everything and have some all around fun =P,hehe!

Im a natural Car nut. Been one since before I could remember. Racing is in my blood. I just love cars and testing their limits. I think Need For Speed Hot pursuit is fun only in Multiplayer. I usuually need a break from GT3 to keep me fresh. As long as its fun I will race it. Burnout and Burnout 2 is usually where I go for a GT3 vacation. GT will always reighn as king........

i like to play because of the realistic cars that are in the game and also because the way its setup is a lot better than Need for Speed. Need for Speed is for people who want to jack the cars n ram them into walls so that they can see their car smashed up while they can still drive!!!! my god, IT ALSO TEACHES OUR YOUNG PEOPLE TO RUN AWAY FROM THE POLICE!!!!

and also, Gran Turismo is the REAL DRIVING SIMULATOR :) :p

I love driving the cars - it's not just about the racing (although it's great when well done - hence TOCA 2 on the PC), but I just love driving the cars.

A good example - I have the GT Force wheel, and that combined with my warmed-up NSX, I find it very relaxing to cruise around Deep Forest, not at huge speed, but at a good solid pace.

Pretty well all my PS2 games are racing games, except of course for my GTA games - they're about the only non-racing games I get a kick out of.

I have strategy games on the PC, though.

If you ever want to touch one of them its easy. After the haulerf from the RUF factory pulls out, pull him over in a fake police car, the hit the driver over the head with a lead pipe then *notices everyone is looking at him*........ I would like to see a RUF in person. My cousin who lives in Germany has. Sent me a tape of him flying down the Autobahn at 208MPH in an RUF. Jeez Im jealous!

vat man, have you played f355 challenge? i might buy that when i get my momo force as it looks to be the most realistic racing game ever. i have played the arcade version and it is INCREDIBLE. the dreamcast version got great reviews too. ive heard that the ps2 version has a little worst graphics and works sketchy with wheels. i dont care about graphics at all but am a little concerned about the wheel thing.

anyway, if youve played it give me a pm here or on aim so you can tell me about it.

Heh yeah I love that game.
I always play F355 when I pop up to the arcade, I just love blasting around the Nurburgring and being able to actually shift with a clutch in a game (although they took the clutch version away now :( )I bought the DC version, but its just not as fun without the wheel, the pedals, the force feed back and the rumbly seat.

I play GT3 because I like cars and I just find it enjoyable to drive them. I also enjoy the setup process and how it affects the performance/handling of the car. I can drive in real life but I want to learn some advanced driving techniques and at least one time in my life I want to drive a car at a track day.

GT is the best driving simulated that is licensed and actually isn't too arcady....infact it isn't in simulation!

The GT series was the best thingy that happedned to me..I preordered GT2 and got it one day earlier than everybody else :D and for GT2 I had to wait until Xmas for a PS2 in 2001

Ah, I forgot one other thing:

For the past year or two, I've watched in horror at how awful my mom's driving is. Thus, another reason for a want to drive on my own (even in virtual reality). :D

I play not so much because I idolize GT3, it's realism, and what have you, but for one simple reason: Obessive compulsive perfectionism. I do not enjoy racing against the computer very much, I enjoy time trials and free runs. I simply want to be fast or faster than other people. One day I may try to learn how to drift, but I do not have the patience for that at the moment. I simply want to improve.

I have rented it overnight - it ran fine with my GT Force. The graphics aren't fantastic, and the game has a very steep learning curve, but they've introduced a few sub-games to build the skills necessary.

I didn't buy but longer term will probably pick up a 2nd hand or discounted copy - it's pretty hard but very realistic - handling seems to be about the same as the arcade.

Definitely worth a look.
