The "special cars" arn't used in races becasue they don't have hoods and the drivers and interiior are too detailed for the PS2 to render 6 of them at once. Not because the literally ARE special, although some people will consider them all or some of them to be.

I want a Daimler Motor Carriage race!! HAH!!
"Daimler Motor Carriage" & "Race" in the same sentence. Now THERE'S an "OXYMORON!"
...O.G. :D

(at live4speed) Good point, I never thought of that, makes sense thought :D

(at old geezer) 1 lap around the super speedway at blitering speeds of 5mph!! wOOOOOOooooo!!

Ive seen Catherhams with canvas and leather canopys and surely the Prowler came with some sort of roof.
The only real issue I have with the special cars is that the game doesnt tell you that they cant be used to race before you buy it. I had to start GT4 again in the start cos I got all ecstatic over the Caterham and spent my 100,000 advance from gt3 on getting it and working it up only to find it was useless.

i dont know why people moan about winning 2 Nike cars. you cant sell it, but you can get rid of it. so stop complaining
How do I get rid of it? :)

Oh, sorry. I got confused when you said:
chinko
...you cant sell it...
I see now that the instructions you've given are vastly different to selling the car normally...

jesus christ, i said you cant SELL as in GET MONEY FROM GETTING RID OF IT. you can still get rid of it

Because we'd much rather win something that we actually want or can use. What good is having two of the exact same car that's compeltely useless, especially when you could have won, say, a Shelby Cobra?

Oh just a question, Why is the Caterham called a fireblade in GT4 when it was actually modelled on a R500? i know this as it was in EVO magazine in the not to distant past

The Fireblade is so named because it is fitted with the engine from a Fireblade (duh).

Evo have tested a number of Caterhams over the years and the one in GT4 is based on one of the Evo project cars which was indeed a Fireblade engined model (run by Richard Meaden).

The Evo car also went on a serious weight reduction programme, even resulting in the number of screws used to fit the steering wheel (a carbon fibre wheel at that) being reduced to save weight.

Its even mentioned in this article by Meaden about GT4; "....sharing floorspace with the ex-evo Caterham Fireblade."

Hiya Scaff:
Would you Please explain to those of us who are NOT UK residents just what a "Fireblade" might be? THANX...O.G. :D

Sorry guys.

A Honda CBR 900 Fireblade

Heres a quick history

Caterham used the Engine for a few models, combined with the basic Caterhams light weight its quite an unusual car, and does explain a lot about its rather unique qualities.

BTW if my memory is right the Evo Caterham Fireblade was 365kgs when finished.

teh caterham has a bike engine? haha...never knew that

THANX Scaff: 👍
Here's a LINK to another similar design (They're ALL "Ripped-Off" from an old LOTUS design...NO?) powered by a Honda S2000 engine...O.G. :D

i love all the cars (except the cruddy ones from the US) and the Auto Union V16 is amazing.....it was a streamlined version of the Grand Prix (NOT Formula 1, just Grand Prix!) car and did drive on the ring (though, i find it near impossible to keep on the track there....lol

i beleive the one availible in GT4 is the replica that Audi made in '99 and showed at Goodwood....

Caterham actually own the design rights to the Seven, having bought them from Lotus in the Sixties.

You are however right about the rest, Caterham have actually sued a few companies over designs that look too similar (notiably Westfield).

Theres a very caterham esque looking car currently just out of design phase, it uses a commodore engine and a hell of a lotta carbon fibre.. i have to get back to you for the rest of the stats,. But its made in melbourne....

EDIT: Elfin MS8 clubmans the name, afte sifting through many towers of aging wheels magazines. It pumps out 245KW from a 5.7 litre V8 Gen 3 Commodore engine. In this form it has 280kw/tonne and a claimed 0-100kph time in 3.5 secs... not bad eh?... and this thing wieghs 875kg, and is selling at $85,00 AUS.

It also says in the print that the manufactor will fit the GTS version of the commodore's engine which pumps out 300KW....

Does it come with a coffin and funeral expenses all paid up? Sounds like you'll need it... :scared:

I saw in a recent Motor (April 2005), that Cameron McConville drove one in the Mt Buller sprint. Apparently he was the only one brave (stupid/crazy) enough to drive it fast enough to get any performance out of it.

haha 👍 wheres that at?.. what was he driving?

He was driving in the Elfin Clubman. Don't know if that's the same as the MS8 or not, but I don't think it is.

As for the location, mate you're in Aussie, you're meant to tell me.

Motor Magazine
It's two hours north-east of Melbourne, in the Victorian high country... Mansfield is Mt Buller's closest town.
Do you know where Mansfield is? Australia's not that big is it? It can't be hard to find one town... I'll guess that it's probably in the middle of nowhere, just like Sydney... :)

hahaha, australias the biggest continent or island or something like that isnt it?... sydneys on the coast too... :dunce:...... um, well. as far as i know there was a previous model to the MS8, which was called elfin clubman... they used toyota engines, but they were ultra light.... I dont blame all those people who didnt have the balls. Being in something that resembles a gokart on precarious cliffs?...no thank you.

Austrailia isn't a continent, it's not part of the biggest continent either. Theres been many a debate over wheather or not it's an Island. Over here it's too big to be an island but I think in Australia they teach that it's the worlds largest island. It depends where you are and what measures people use, like an American billion is less than an English billion.
