Why does my RUF need a japanese tune shop?

ok, so porsche design a near perfect car after many decades of racing experience, the 996 GT2 say... then RUF come along and add bits a pieces to it in order to make it faster and scarier than it was designed to be. the RGT... why do i then have to go to the 'tune shop' in gran turismo and add more things like 'racing exhaust' ??? surely ruf have added the best exhaust for that car? if the tune shop adds serious racing modifications, why don't we have a 'racing modification' for the outside of the car?

i know i dont 'have' to buy all that stuff but without the 'tune shops' suspension there is more body roll than should be there...
once you buy a clk55, that should be enough modification, and it should be excellent like it is in real life...

anyone else feel the same way?
 
I must admit I've had similar thoughts - however on most of the "tuner" cars, sports or semi-racing parts are already fitted (hence the inability to take the TRD Celica, Tom's Chaser, Nismo R-Tune and S-Tune Skylines, Mine's Skyline and Evo into the PD Cup). These cars just need full-racing parts in order to actually race. Otherwise they're just modified street cars.

But I agree - the Rufs are only 30% (or less) Porsche, yet they need MORE tuning? Sports exhausts and all...
 
One, it's a Japanese conspiracy to take over the world and they figure they have to start somewhere. No, anyway... You can't mess with exterior of the car most likely because of licensing issues. And it's a game... Although they have cars that come with racing mufflers and such already purchased, you really have to be able to upgrade for the car to be interesting in the game. Consider it poetic license... for programmers.

One thing thing that I've surmised is the Japanese bias in the game has had a detrimental effect on the performance of the other cars.

RUF as well. And truth be told, you can get RUF's in different configurations. I'm not certain you can get one with a 1000hp though.

And also, on all of the racing cars you can still put something like a stage 4 turbo on it....:odd:
 
RUFs are "street tuned". If you were going to race your real-life RUF, you might want to stiffen the suspension, up the boost, put on stickier tires, etc.

well my point was that a gt2 is surely 'street tuned' and a RUF goes beyond that, and race tuning it would surely make it only SLIGHTLY more powerful, not like alta confirms, 1000hp.

im sure if they had a mclaren f1 in there, even though the race version was very close in specs to the road version, u'd still be able to put a 'sports exhaust' on, and 'triple clutch' :P, and boost the power to 1200hp. its all part of the japanese culture. i guess it stems from the fact that over there their government? limits cars to 300hp or something and so everything has to be modified if it wants to compete. theres more to cars than just hp, but since u are allowed that, then they should let you go over the top too, i.e. add jets and things to ur vitz :P 0-1000hp in 2.3 seconds.
 
When you remove "streetability" from the equation, you can make a lot more power. Take F1 cars as an example - they make huge power but have to be push-started.

RUFs are only mildly tweaked. There is room for improvement - perhaps only in engine work, and not in bolt-ons, but there is room for further tuning.

I don't think it's a conspiracy on the part of PD to make Japanese cars more competitive.
 
I would just like to see a ratio thats almost equal between japanese/european/american cars

Im fed up of seeing 10 kinds of GTR's and so on....

Best cars in the world are european, so why so many japanese??? no conspiracy??? yea right :P
 
PD, being in Japan, had better access to Japanese cars. Licensing always complicates things, too.

GT4 should answer all of our prayers. I've seen a small selection of cars and it resembles GT2's lineup. 👍

I know its off topic, but do you have any idea if they're gonna let you customize the way your car looks a bit more, other than rims ? I think the addition of body kits and custom paint jobs would really give you the feeling of customization and originality when racing

i'd love that, lets hope so!

what i'd really love is an ability to pop the hood during a race, so you can park it in the woods in deep forest, open the bonnet, and rev the engine whilst watching it rumble, mmm yeah :D
 
i don't think it's a concious conspiracy on the part of PD to boost rice-burners, just a natural bias that should be expected... if we want a game like this, that works as good as GT3, with the awesome depth and graphics and physics, but depicts 67 hot rod camaros, gymkana corvettes, and "eleanor" mustangs (oh yeah, and 57 chevy nomads :D ), and, uh, what ever you brits, aussies, uh, latvians, swedish, french, and outer mongolian gamers are into, then we have to get up off our lazy butts (translation: arse),stop playing GT3 for a sec, and program our own version...
