You've already answered your own question. I mean, seriously, what did you expect?

844 hp has to get to the ground somehow. If it was coiled up into a big spring and you backed the car up against a wall and pushed the button, SPROIIIIIING, it would go flying down the track!

But cars don't work that way. It shouldn't take Einstein to figure out that 844 hp is a lot of power to try to channel through a few square feet of rubber sitting on the pavement.

Thread Title: 820bhp Supra wheel spin problem on launch.

this should be rephrased...
820bhp Supra = wheel spin problem on launch

apparently the supra is notorious for this problem in GT4 even with low to moderate upgrades. your not going to get any grip unless you drop a few hundred horespower.

Or, maybe, just maybe, you could not use full throttle when launching ?

Also, you could decrease your final drive ratio ... or add balast/downforce to the rear ...

downforce won't really work while launching, only at speed. Ballast might work, but it's also adding weight to the car. You're right about not going full throttle though, it will have to be controlled very carefully.

the supra has severe wheel spin problems in real life also.

A guy I know here locally has a supra that dynoed at over 900HP TO THE WHEELS.

I was driving next to him on the highway at 120mph, and personally saw both his rear tires spin up a cloud of smoke as he took off, spinning his tires from a roll when he went WOT at 120mph.

his car is hellishly fast.

thax everyone for trying to help i wish the supras could grip like the stid but we all can dream i got y supra under 10 seconds thats the best ill get my sti touring car still holds it down with 7.145 i want under 7 one day with some car but ill just keep playing hard im 78.5 percent done with the game i want gt5 damnit

leave the tcs where it is, go adjust the weight balance of the car to +50 rear and put your ballast weight to 200,set transmission to 20 then make gears 1 and 2 as long as possible(3.2-3.0 etc) and make gears 3456 as close together as possible while still being able to reach 160+ mph, R5 tires and dont use nitrous till mid 2nd gear

at 844 HP your engine is overpowered. To settle a part of the problem, normally you need to put TCS (Traction Control Spinning) on at a reasonable level or remove some parts and make your power go lower...

I understand of what u guys are saying about cars being over powered and stuff and it makes sense. But still, look there are cars doing over 900hp and grap to ground like if nothing, It's just the Supra that has a hard time doing that, BTW, i'm in a thread about stating the same type of problem a while back w/ the Supra. The Ballast weight thing i have never messed with it until now. It makes a HELL of a big difference in 1/4 mile times. i went from an 10.7 w/ nitrous 847hp Supra to messing with the settings the first time and ran an 10.5 w/o nitrous (w/ nitrous 10.0xx). I ran a 9.371 with messing with the ballast settings...

chassis downforce or are we forgetting about that? 20-30 in the back, some rear ass weight and some more camber might help. tcs 4 would be cool, and the tranny setting seems to work for u, so try it out see it u get better time. make it as low as possbile too since u dont have toturn u wont bottom out, any air under ur car will try to lift u, so limit that. otherwise, try it out and post ur times

I drive a 300zx, and here's what I do...

I use no ballast, maximum downforce in the rear, and no downforce in front;

zero camber (for full contact patch, but then, I haven't seen much difference from it), maximum height in front, minimum in back, full soft springs and shocks in back, full hard in front;

Gearing should be set so that you max out third gear at around 260-270 kph, or the end of the quarter mile. TCS at 7, any higher or lower and it'll be slower, definitely.

I've run a 9.24 with nitrous at around 800hp or so.
