Why does the AI NEVER wreck?

Is it just me, or does it seem like the AI drivers never spin out or wreck?!?
I'll slow up and get hit in a corner, and I go spinning around. But if I hit them in a corner, guess what? I go spinning around again and they just keep on going.

They touch the grass and keep going. I touch the grass in the same exact spot and I lose control..

I've slammed them, bumped them, pushed them, and whatever else you can think of, and they don't spin out. They just drive right back to the racing line like a freakin' slot car.

And then on top of that, when you spin, the other drivers just drive right in to you. Over, and over, and over, and over, and over.

Sigh, to answer that shortly, it is just you...
I have seen that before and i am going to see more of it in the future.

Play the FGT championship. They wreck out VERY easily there. I took out a lot of pent up anger and frustration on that series. I tried to wreck out the AI everytime i was near one, lots of fun.

In every other event, I do just fine and usually end up crushing the other cars, but no matter what car I drive in the GT All Stars, I get spun out by the Minolta on the last lap of each race and end up finishing 10th.

Yes the FGT Championship is really bad for the AI, especially Nurburgring. They wrecked alot in the karts at Autumn Ring as well. I've had AI spin each other out before in other random races too. Keep in mind, crashing isn't common ya know.

I always (in whatever game i play) try to learn the AI's driving techniques, and after a while get used to how they drive, so can race really closely with them with pretty much no contact at all. If i'm racing with intentions to save the reply i make sure i don't hit walls/AI cars etc - if i do i just restart it.

Personally i've seen the AI spin out/lose control quite a bit, especially in B-Spec mode where they sometimes drift around corners like my B-Spec driver.

They're definitely overly stable when you nudge them most of the time, but they are certainly capable of spinning themselves out on many corners.

they are vulnerable, but vulnerable in the sense of 6 inch steel plating, or a forcefield.
Sure, you can make them spin out or ruin their day, but it's not as easy as it should be which kinda bothers me.

I suppose cars with a military tank level of stability to impact is a better alternative to forced contact penalties.

The only series where wrecks are common is the FGT. Apart from that, the AI drive "too perfect" and have near perfect driving corrections. That is why when you try to spin them out, they will manage to prevent that. Its good and bad. The good is that it prevents the player from simply knocking the AI off the track for easier wins (as if its not easy enough right now to play dirty) and tries to keep the AI competitive. The bad is that it does make the race feel unrealistic and the AI less human.

the AI spins out quite often, especially if you pressure them (no need for touching).

I've seen the AI go wide, spin and crash more often that I can count.

So yeah, it's just you.

Sorry, I guess I should have phrased that better.
Yes I know the AI spins out on its own and makes mistakes, what I'm talking about is when you make contact with the AI, it seems 9 times out of 10, you're the one that will suffer for it. In most racing games, if you nudge a guy in a corner, he's going to slide wide and either hit the wall or go off the track, but these guys just seem to slide out of line and then fall right back in to line.

Anyone seen one get out of line in the NASCAR events? I win Indy easily then every other race is the same.. They spin me out via pit then proceed to choo choo train to the end drafting each other perfectly so there is no possible way to catch up.

Sigh, to answer that shortly, it is just you...
I have seen that before and i am going to see more of it in the future.

what the hell have you played this game? the AI is a joke how can you blame him? its true you can hit the AI at 200mph but nothing happens but they hit you and race over

I just hit an AI full speed in the rear drivers side at Daytona and he didn't even smoke his tires I think it gave em a boost actually.

I gave up and turned around the last lap and drove backwards into the pack head on full speed. I only spun 1 car and he was back in action before I stopped even.

Wow I am levels a25/b31 and I have never seen a car lose any parts ever did I miss a setting?

I don't think it was actually parts coming off. The animation for the wreck had a big cloud of smoke, sparks, and black bits assumed to be parts of cars flying around.

I was going around Nurburgring today and i spun out on the first corner, putting me right at the back and as i cought up to the pack again there was a Skyline facing the wrong way.

I was watching my bob race today and saw a lot of lock ups and spin outs in the
FGT series, not just by my bob.

There is a seriously annoying Audi S3 just in front of me on the grid, that occasionally appears in the Extreme European Rome Race that has a tendency to weave from side to side making it difficult to sneak by on the inside.when I use the race to money grind. I got fed up with the thing and on one race spun the thing out on the first corner and carried on my "merry" way! I now just reload until an RS200 is just in front of me... no weaving.
