Why Ford GT LM Spec II is so iconic?

Being in he intro of the game helps, yeah. It's the first thing you see in what many would argue is the best Gran Turismo title of them all.
And then when you get your hands on one, it's pretty fast, usable in a variety of events and of course, it looks the part!

Never understood it either, it always looked to me like a standard GT with a spoiler mounted on top of the body and some sponsor decals. I didn't get LM vibe from it. It also had a generic sound, whereas standard models had some kind of V8 rumbling.

I mean, why is the M3 GTR from Most wanted so iconic? It's the exact same reason. Well loved and remembered game's cover car, so it's automatically iconic.
