Well these things piss me off, the huge ones do. I recently collided with some concrete with massive stones in it. I scrapped my hands and they have big gashes in them and my knee is scummy.

Anyway I just had to pull off the biggest band aid and it hurt. It was so old it was three times as sticky as normal and my wound had oozed this sap out and it had hardened as this gluey gunk. The worst part is it decided it would take my knee hairs and the skin with it. Not a nice feeling or sight to see skin flaps.

That is why Johnson & Johnson should pay me reperations for loss of time and injury caused by product and failure to provide sufficient use by dates.

I hate band aids.

Why use Band aids? Umm....Duh, cause there's nothing else to use...

Actually there is. Use a salve from your local drug store (same place you got the bandaids) and a cotton pad with some tape. This allso open air to get to the wound and it will heal at a much slower rate. Why is slower better? There will be less scar tissue from the healing process. Which means it'll be less noticeable that you had an accident.

Yes, it'll take 3 times as long to heal, but it'll heal cleaner and better with the salve and cotton pads.

*Thank-you, that was Der Alta's daily Medical Tip proudly sponsered by GTPlanet*

Yeh, sounds good scars blah, I already got one on my forehead so I don't think it will matter that much.

Yum I'm pretty sure that on the back of the Band-aid box it say that you should change out the bandage once or twice a day,and next time use some sort of anti bacterial gel,or cream.

How the **** did you collide with the concrete?
:odd:

Anyway, grow up and hack the pain, just yank it off in one big swipe, the pain is only temporary.

Good tip with removing Band Aids and Elastoplast - do it in the shower. The steam will loosen the glue and soften the skin.

You can always use that liquid bandage stuff...but it hurts like all hell when you put it on and watch your skin shrink when you put it on. It's basically superglue...but it works very well if you can get through the pain. Also, for bigger cuts I don't think it will be effective, and would probably hurt a ton worse.

Maybe you don't like them because Barry Manilow wrote the "I am stuck on Band Aid" commercial jingle?

he does write the songs the whole world sings, the genius.

i scraped my knee when i was 8 or earlier. i think the right one. i tripped on the path to my home at the time. i also walked backwards and cut the back of my head and had to get stitches.

I agree!

Anyway, Hayden, when did you come across leg hairs? It shouldn't hurt, you wouldn't have any yet!

That is not the way to properly remove any kind of bandage. Do what Vat_Man said and try this as well:
Any bandage with an adhesvie should be removed by lifting the flap, at one corner, and using the other hand to gently pull the skin away from the bandage. Otherwise you run the risk of pulling off a layer or two of epidermis (your hide) with the bandage.
I repeat, DO NOT PULL OFF A BANDAGE LIKE YOU ARE STARTING YOUR LAWNMOWER.

For the record the proper way to have dressed the road rash would have been to rinse it out carefully, but getting as much foreign matter out of the wound as possible. Then, if the wound is actively draining (blood, serum, etc) apply a small amount of Double or Triple Anti-biotic ointment. Cover with a TELFA pad. and use Paper tape or Micropore tape to hold the dressing in place. If the wound is someplace that isn't near a joint you can wrap the Telfa and the appendage with Kerlix, or Kling. Then tape it to itself. No adhesive on the skin.

BTW, I pull bandages off of fragile skin and re-dress surgical wounds, pretty much on a daily basis. Believe me when I say the "Lawnmower method" is the absolute worst thing you can do when removing a bandage.

Don't come to me if you need stitches though.
Can't sew worth a darn.
But I can stem the flow of blood till we get to the emergency room.:D

What would you know, shud-up.'

The only reason why I didn't rip it off in one big thing is because it would've taken the ooze and the scab with it and bled everywhere, Bah!

The person that comes to mind that is hairlyless is Mazkid .

Quite easily, when somebody sticks their foot out infront of yours and then you find yourself parallel to the ground.

Haha. Did you have a nice...trip? Just jokes, I always watch for feet now, never actually fallen before though...stumbled, but never fallen.

They make some new band aids or something now that have new "healing power" and hurt less.

just let your gash dry and let your body do it;s own bandaging! it's the least painfull procedure there is. and it won't sting in the shower!

Ah yes, the crazily huge band-aid. They aren't much fun to take off - thank God I don't have much body-hair yet. The only time I had to wear those was when I skinned my shin down to the bone. That one hurt...

Heh the last couple bad wounds I had i taped shut and used a steriel pad. Most from widling(sp) that stupid knot off the branch.

Hairlyless? Hah. Not quite. Luckily my last bad cut(bleeding) was like years go. Most recently I get cuts on my hands from prying stuff with one of the small Mazda or Snap-On pocket screw drivers...actually the Mazda one has never hurt me...a sign! But I'll be prying something loose and have my other hand in the wrong place, the screw driver slips, and bingo! 10pt hand stab. I also have been cut by Cosmo...he will come up on my bed at night and will start either playing around with the stuff on the shelf at the head of my bed or start scratching against one of the RX-7 brochure thingys I have on my wall, then I try to pull him away from it, he yells at me, and then sticks out his back claws and gets me on the arm. Same with my dog Sadie. I'll be playing with her on the floor, and she will claw at my arms just playing around. Most of those don't require band aids though...

Who uses band aids anyways? Either be a man, and let it heal, or get stitches if it's bad enough.

If you must pull off band-aids like you're starting your mower, at least get a few guys together and see who can pull off the most skin at one good jerk.

My problem is bandaids never staying on for more than an hour. Unless you sit in a corner and do nothing they fall off. About a month ago I cut my finger pretty deep. It bled for an hour. I finally put a bandaid on it and it fell off an hour later. You just have to use your fingers constantly. Why can't anyone make a good finger bandaid? That stupid cut broke open and bled for a week. What a pain.
