i won a TT somewhere, it's bright yellow, so i decided to keep it. i bougt every available upgrade for it, even tires, and that thing is still slow. in an effort to see if it was just the prize car thing, i bought a TT and souped it up. it's just as slow, and the specs are different!! but hardly enough to make a difference in speed. what's up with my Audi's?? i want to get those stupid Tourist Races out of the way, and i can't, because my TT's suck with a vengeance. what's the deal?

oh, and i have the Americn version, so the decimals in the torque measurements are misplaced. they've got 10 times as much as it says.

Bought
385hp / 6100
47.3ft-lb / 5600
1185kg
power-weight: 3.077
torque-weight: 0.250

Won
397hp / 6100
48.8ft-lb / 5600
1185kg
power-weight: 2.984
torque-weight: 0.242

Yeah i had that problem too the audi tt's are alot slower then i believe they should be there is nothing you can do unless you cheat but otherwise you just have to get really good at useing the slow tt to beat them

I've noticed that some cars gain horsepower with mileage (but all start to lose hp at around 300 miles), so maybe because you have (presumably) driven the one you won more it has a higher hp. You have changed the oil on both these cars right? No idea why you're having trouble with the actual races though...

for the power they have, i was assuming they'd be a LOT faster.
and the AWD is hardly noticable off the line.

ur probably just really used to race cars

i think the tt is just fine, the race was really easy. just slap on some medium tires and maybe shorten the gears alittle (i don't really remember what i did to the car), and set the distribution to 30-35%

I think its main enemy is weight - once I got my fully-tuned one set-up, it was quite fun to drive, but driving it requires a preservation of momentum driving technique (which I enjoy using), rather than 'point and squirt' method you can get away with driving the big HP cars - much like the Vitz/Yaris races.

I'll give you that: it's not going to win any drag races, but if you are able to tune the TT properly, drive sound racing lines, and keep it off the walls, it is a great car.

With a nickname like 'point and squirt', don't you just know that this is not a driving style to aspire to?

By the way, vat_man, I have to ask, what exactly is Soylent Green?

I agree on the driving technique side, but in some of the stage four turbos it's about the only way to manage the torque!

Soylent Green was a movie made many years ago starring Charlton Heston. I recommend you see it - there's a bit of a twist in the movie about exactly what Soylent Green is - I'll give you a hint. Overpopulation is a major theme of the movie.

My avatar is from a Simpsons parody.

I thought those looked like Simpsons characters, but I am not an avid enough watcher to recall the episode. Based on the avatar, I'll buy that overpopulation is a major theme.

Thanks! That's been bugging me for a while now.

Ah, yes!

"Try all of Soylent's delicious flavors: Soylent red, Soylent yellow, and new, delicious, Soylent green. Made from the finest undersea growth."

"You've got to warn everyone and tell them! Soylent green is made of xxx! You've got to tell them! Soylent green is xxx!" (Don't want to ruin the surprise!)

The TT quatros can be slow, but I found a very simple solution. Instead of putting on the fully customizable limited slip, put on the one called the 1.5 limitted slip differential.

Otherwise, rig it the best you can, and set the torque distribution to 50-50.

I had no problem creaming the Tourist Trophies.

Do this, and your TT quatro will have amazing acceleration.

Oh, yeah. Try using the automatic trany, since if you get into the redline, the engine sort of freezes for a while, and you can't change the gears real fast. :D

Hope that helped (at least a little  )

Mmmmm...soylent green....

I don't like driving the TT....I can't get rid of the understeer. It doesn't look any special either. Plus it doesn't get much HP even tuned.

Look in the Writeups for a couple of TT threads. I actually like my TT after tuning it a bit. There's a lot of info on that board about the TT.

The absolute best things you can do are weight reduction and adding the full LSD. Set the fornt torque to 30% and see if you don't like the car better after that.

Alright, now I'm going to have to see this movie! :thatsodd:

By the way, I apologize for pursuing these off-topic topics. It's actually a minor pet peeve of mine, but I couldn't help it! I'll try to contain myself!

Strange, as in real life the :audi: 1.8 TT is considered a pretty fast car in stock  60mph/0-100kph in arount 6-8 secs if I remember rightly :D. But naturally that's far off Super Car :car: teritory but then it's not meant to be a super car? :smilewink

I actually like the Audi TT, and didn't have much trouble with the beginner or amatuer series, if your car is fully tuned, the series should be cake. Hell I'm not the best driver in the world, and I had no trouble doing it. Just stick with it and you'll win

my TT is fully tuned.
it handles like a winnebago, accelerates like a rock, and loses to all the stock competition.

I gotta agree on tar the GT3 Audi tt is no match for the GT2 ttLM or GTC ttLM :(

But there is a better use for it :p Rally !! stick some dirt tyres on it and let it rip on a rally course :D its sweet as hell 😈

in fact i had a spottie running over at the GTN in a tt which is pasted below try it out its definatly where the tt is at its best

Well it is a great looking Car even if it isn't a winner for power? :magnify:

I was wondering did they never bring out a 2.0L Engine on the :audi: TT's?

I think you people are nutz! My Audi TT it totally killer with no understeer and it BLOWS the other TTs of the line with only Stage 1 turbo installed. I rocked both the Beginner and Amateur Tourist races with it.

I think some of you need to go retune your rides or something.

If you read my TT writeup on the other board, you'll see what happened to me. I was able to completely destroy the AI cars - at the starting line and out of the sharp turns. But anytime the straights opened up a little, they passed me like a Metroliner on the New-York-to-DC run.

I like my TT a lot, but they must be running a very high-HP, low-torque setup with tall gearing.
