Why is the 911 GT3 in the game?

I heard the the reason the Diablo is in the game is because the Japanese race team that the car is modeled after let Polyphony use it, but Lamborgini said "no" for the US version. So what is the 911 doing in the game?

By the way, I was on the Entertainment Arts Website and there is NO reference to the Porsche Need for Speed, could this mean that EA no longer has the Porsche license? :D

Just wondering,

Thanks

EA still has the lisnese (the new porsche game "porsche unleased") and the porsche isn't in the game. Unless u have a gameshark or Sharkport. The "porsches" u see in the game are actually "RUF's" a company that buys porsches and modify's them.

If its possible to unlock the car with a GameShark, isn't it in the game already?

I really don't know how the GameShark works, so I guess I just thought it was in there already, but not accessable.

Well either way, I'm glad someone created/unlocked the GT3 :)

Well lamborghini are owned by VW so I suppose its possible. But unless EA give the licence away I doubt it. Anyway Id rather have a zonda than a ferrari (hates ferraris)

Ferraris rule! :D (C/D just loves em like mad...)

To answer your question, there is little chance that PD will be able to acquire the license from Ferrari for GT4, considering they haven't been able to do it for three games now (though I'm amazed that Microsoft was able to get the license for Project Gotham). Lamborghinis, maybe (50-50).

To answer the original question, yes. The car is in the game, just not normally accessible. I don't know if it's called a RUF or a Porsche though.

the car isnt in the game. U must create it w/ hybrids. It would just be a waste of space on the disc which i'm sure sony would be most efficeint and delete all "unused" files in the game.

EA doesnt have the License for Lambo anymore, I dont know about the status of Ferrari.

well the porsche is not really called porsche its 966 (911) GT3. Ive got both sharkport and gameshark and they both give me the same name. but there is also a stratos rally car and a stratos road car hidden in the game also how did they get there??? evidentlly pd just makes the car non acquirable rather than deleting it completely takes to much time from what ive heard, so they leave it in and hackers find it soon enough :)

maybe fastest production car, but not the fastest road car (and street legal). I know there are many faster cars out there such as the 1988 Chevrolet Callaway Sledgehammer Corvette.

EDIT: and hows this:
0-60mph: 1.97sec
0-100mph: 4.33 sec
0-150mph: 9.221 sec
top speed of 240mph
and 1/4mile 9.24sec/150.27mph
 street legal and not a fiberglass body over and engine with a chair behind it. This is a real car, 2002 Lingenfelter Corvette.

Yes, it is in the game. You can't create it with a gameshark. You can't actually create anything with a gameshark. You can only unlock it, so to speak.

It's like what happened with all the hidden cars in GT2, the CLK DTM, the VW Polo, etc.

So many wrong answers so little time...

The GT3 is in the game for one reason, and one reason alone. It is the car that Yamauchi drives in real life. So far the Diablo and the GT3 are the only extra cars unlockable with the gameshark that aren't hybrids. (Last time I looked on www.gameshark.com anyway)
And the Gameshark works by altering the values held by the PS2's Ram. This allows for access to certain things that have been disabled in the game by conventional means.
