Why no decent rally game for Americas ?

if you think Nascar is boring, buy this and let the world know how you feel..

The PS2 version of RBR is fantastic especially with the DFP. Only gripe is that its 30fps but its very very tolerable. It was the xbox version that had bad frame drops iirc.

The only people who dont like RBR are those you cant handle a more realistic rally sim. :sly:

yep, pretty much, those people could never handle a true WRC car, not to say good RBR would do great... but they wouldn't be crap ^_^

RBR sucked 🤬.
Yes , i also suggest the same thing that code said...IMPORT! ;)
Why should I pay extra money 1) To mod my PS2 and 2) to import games at an inflated price and void my PS2 just because I live in North America ? Because Sony doesn't has the balls to say to the games developers:" release worldwide or you don't have a license from us to produce the game ".
How hard is it to port a PAL game to NTSC ? just change a few timing loops, a few parameters and voilà.

Buy a pc rally game? PC allways gets teh best0rz versions anyway, win win!
I can't , I run Linux on my computer. There are some Linux ports of well known games, but they are all FPS games and I dislike the style.
And ( again ) why should I get a computer to play let's say RBR when I already have one PS2 and that a PS2 version is available elsewhere.
Obviously you enjoy being exploited by SCEA

Run it using Wine or what ever it's called. Runs most windows games quite well, or so I heard...Could also install windows in a seperate games partition. XP with Sp2 is pretty damn good.
Why you ask, because the pc one is about 10 times more UBER ;)
I live in the UK so I wins! *hugs his copy of WRC3, then realises it's crap, and puts it away never to play again*

I do agree though, silly that they don't release it over your side of the pond though (even if the games suck). CM is also god awful. Your missing nothing.

RBR is worth having your PS2 modded or getting windows XP.

Dont forget to blame the ignorant US racing fans who know nothing about rally and Speed TV for not showing off enough WRC coverage. Like every publisher, Sony has to determine if a certain game is ecconomically viable and Rally games do not sell that well in the US, no where near as well as they do in Japan or US. Though I do think it is pretty weak that when the developers convert their game to NTSC for Japan like WRC games that Sony still wont help bring it to the US. I would bet its not to far from the same reason the US didnt get any of the GT concepts or prologues. So yeah, who really knows what SCEA is thinking. Should be easy to have WRC games in the US. :ouch:

Note: I have nothing against the US flag at alll, but did you ever see one on a real WRC Subaru ? it's as unrealistic as the Union Jack on Bill Elliott's car :)

that car was probably from an SCCA sanctioned event, most likely piloted by an AMERICAN driver. Too bad about that, SCCA rallies were freaking cool. less strictly governed like the FIA ones, and more open to competition.

Of course o meu amigo WRC4 is out. Last week, I purchased a French PS2 magazine here in Montreal and they rate WRC4 as even superior to RBR. But of course ... we won't get it in North and South America.
Sony wouldn't even have any excuse for not shipping the game to Brasil, because if my memory is correct Brasil has the PAL ( read European ) TV standard.

WRC4 is still a far more arcade biased game than RBR, a lot of the magazines gave RBR a lower score than WRC4 and CM2005, mainly because RBR was too much of a sim. They complained that it took away the fun; personally its an amazing challange and far more fun than the more arcade biased games.

If you want the rally driving equivilent of GPL then do all you can to get a copy of Richard Burns Rally.

Then get hold of your friends who rate themselves as drivers and let them loose on the first GB rally stage, with 'real' damage turned on and see how far they get.

This is one of the few driving games that accurately reflects real damage; drive into a tree at 60mph and the radiator will go, the car will overheat and you will grind to a halt a short while later.

It is unfortunate that RBR will never get a US release on the PS2, but if you have the chance go for the PC version. It will change the way you look at rally games.

Good news, at least for me! :)

It seems I´ll be changing my current modchip (Magic2) for a DMS3 pretty soon. And this chip converts PAL games to NTSC, so I´ll be able to play these rally games finally! 👍
