Here is probably the crowning gem from the thread so far, found here, on a local club forum.

upset because you mentioned the lawman? i didn't even say anything regarding police after your post. Also, i didn't call you names, read it over again, i told you to piss off. now do it. You might have seen a flat black rx7 last season at the events, thats one example of a car i've built with cut springs. i saved a good 600-1000 dollars by doing that and the car would out drift and outhandle any comparable car with coilovers that i know of. I've owned, off the top of my head, 2 s13's, 4 ae86's, 3 fc's, turbo supra, and other cars with cut springs, so im not going to take your word for **** when you try to tell me whats what. the serious drifters here don't bomb through schoolyards at 3pm, we choose our spots wisely and don't advertise them, hit them late at night and don't stay long. You may want to watch who you call ricers as well, last time most of us saw your car, it had a ****ty ass ebay erebuni super street fighter II dbz bodykit on it. With that said, i think you should do as i suggested earlier, and piss off.

With other gems like this tossed in...
another one
Do you really think a ticket will stop street drifting!!DE DE DEEE.. If they wont let us drift on the track then we will keep it up any way that we have to!!!!!

I like drifting, its fun. But its these types that just ruin everything, for everyone. And lead to the awesome stereotype that drifters are complete morons, cause well, these guys are.

That, and the gem I bolded in the first quote just had to be shared. I dunno why, but its a slow Sunday night, so here we are :p

But yeah, if your really poor, what choice do you have? As for the second quote, I do have to agree with that. Its the code of the "street racer" :sly: "Nothing can stop you from street racing and you would only choose to die in a car crash." Luckily there is a go kart track near my place where drifting is allowed...... 👍

If you're really poor it's likely because you're stupid and spending money on garbage like this that you can't afford to begin with.

If you're poor, you could try and get some qualifications and a job. How about that for an idea?! 💡

Plus drifters think they can do it on the streets to show off and apparently that makes them look cool, nearly killing someone and possibly ruining their sometimes perfectly cool car to do it...........yeah RIGHT. :dunce: They're attempting to be show-offs, that's another reason we don't like them.

Well the drifters on the street are quite dumb if they do it just to show off. Drifting is all about skill and grace and as well as excellent car control. But one things for sure, drifters have more skill than drag racers. But the thing is, I'm going to be the next drifter in D1 and I'm gonna drift in a Beetle!!!! Uh....... never mind..... :grumpy:

That's not really an issue affecting drifters only though, is it? Where I live, it's far more likely to be bogans in V8 Commodores doing skids and generally driving like retards than the drift guys.

Besides, it's a very broad generalisation that's being made here. I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find drifters who keep their pastime off the street and do it legally. Theres an element of idiocy in every form of car culture, and personally I believe that cut-springs guy is a perfect example of one from within the drifting circles.

I'm not arguing for or against here, but I think you may be underestimating how much effort it takes to keep a 400 hp car in a straight line while trying to accelerate as hard as possible, let alone the top tier guys in cars with four digit horsepower figures. It's not just plant your right foot and wait for the end.

A V8 can be drift car too, a better one even for torque and drift speeds maintainable. But this is about the n00bs on the street givng drifters a bad name, as in the legal guys suffer from these, is what this is about.

Thats okay, I can understand where your coming from. I know that drag racing isn't as easy as it looks, but what I was trying to say is that those so called "drifters" does have more skill that the so called "drag racer" I mean at least those drifters got everything thought out before attempting to perform a drift, while a drag racer would usually do those "red light" drag races of the line. But generally, if both are done on the streets, its really really dumb.....

Kids these days... Why is it that they all think they know so much all of a sudden?

A kid I work with has a lot of enthusiasm over his Ford (Escort) ZX2. Granted, hes only 17, and hes got money to play with, so he may get a bit more excited over little things compared to me. Problem is, he has no idea what hes doing, and instead, goes about installing his own ignition switch system (making it very easy to steal his car, my friends and I have done it), cutting out bits and pieces of the interior for no apparent reason other than "making it light," and of course other times of stupid under the hood where he can't tell the difference between an air intake and an exhaust manifold.

...Kids these days...

Cody, maybe you should start your own drift event up on the mountain and have them come up? May get rid of a few problem areas in the wide world of stupid...

Back in 2005, before it was really mainstream, drifting was great. I live in GA and the DG Trials people would always organize events over at the Turner field parking lot.

Good cars and good people showed up and because it was so new, only the "intelligent" tuners and drivers came so we actually gave drifting a good name.

I'll admit, i've been to the warehouse districts before and never had police issues. But that's a topic every individual should decide for themselves.

Currently in my area, drifting has lost any respect. Even the guys that have been doing it for 7+ years because of what the scene represents. Remember the d1gp was canceled this year.

*cough* THIS is how you properly make a car light [other than the tire which was taken out]:

These people are tools. I have mad respect for drifters who do their thing on the track--but no these hoodlum kids who don't know jack and think they are the "shiznit". I could easily out drive those idiots with my old beaten Camaro.

Now you're really under estimating drag racers. The amount of force that hits your body as you rocket from 200-300Mph (even just to 150Mph) in just seconds takes enormous amounts of knowledge to react to. Those guys have to control over 800 horses in that time frame, and that actually gets really tiring after a while. And Drag racers try to plan exactly what they're doing just as much as drifters as well. They rebuild their engines, they warm up their tires to get the best grip, they practice reaction times.

If anything drag racing takes just as much skill and know-how as a drifter, regardless of whether it's an amateur level for both classes or a professional level.

Exactly... Now if we can just get people to think the same about NASCAR as well...

While I hate NASCAR, I do understand it takes considerable concentration, skill, and endurance. I still prefer circuit track racing. Fifth Gear did a NASCAR episide. It was fairly entertaining.

To be honest....I prefer figure 8 racing...with either schoolbusses or cars with trailers :sly: Oh, can't forget demo derbies!

I like drifting, I really do, but for those people that go out and piss everyone off, their ruining it for everyone who liked it in the first place. Personally, I think that drifting is easy to do, but when your less than a foot away from another car, that takes car control and lots of skill.

Some people just get way to worked up about somethings.

Luckily there is a go kart track near my place where drifting is allowed...... 👍
I was told just the other day by my karting "instructor" that the track I practiced on used to host some of the SCCA's autocrosses. It's too bad they stopped allowing cars because that tight little track is spectacular fun. And it would feel like a real track, as opposed to that "which way did he go George" feeling of the usual cone maze.

Okay, enough about me. I admit, I'm wrong to think drag racing is easy and that drifting is better. I just thought that some wannabe drag racers in their 200hp+ Civic drag racing on an empty stretch of road is easier than some wannabe drifter in his S13 Silvia drifting along a winding road.... :indiff:

JCE: Get A roll cage and a lightweight window and a racing harness and you got a track car already. 👍
