In numerous posts on this forum the Minolta Toyota 88C is being praised as the best car in the game, the best car for many races (Like the wind mainly) and generally the best car alround.

Ok I thought I'll save up or win like the wind to obtain this beast of a car and crush everything I come across woohoo!

One problem - I found in the second hand dealership for a measly 2.9 million credits (lol) my fave car from previous GT's, the Toyota GT ONE race car.

Get this it obliterates Like the wind and anything else for that matter including minolta.

Roughly 2 million credits cheaper than the Minolta but will blow it away completely, my lvl 23 bob will finish 15-20 secs ahead of the field in any race with this car all i do is tell him to increase pace at the start and away he goes merilly anihalting everything.

If I drive it the difference in times between me and second is positively embarrassing lol. I'm so glad my old fav is still the one for me and I struggle to see why theres all the fuss about the minolta.

Long live the King

Long live the GT ONE!!

I guess the main difference is the Minolta Toyota is even cheaper since you win it in one of the events, whereas from what I have seen the GT ONE is a prize for one of the 24hr endurance races so comes way later. My B-Spec driver is great in the Minolta, easily out paces everything including Le Man cars etc, best of all, I've only had to pay for oil changes.

Why the Minolta ?
Cause it's a reward, it's free and people usually dont bother buying/trying anything else since the Minolta can win a lot of races in this game.

Nearly all of the cars that are competitive on Like The Wind will destroy the field in the hands of a human player. The Sauber, R89C, R89CP, R8, MINOLTA, Toyota GT-ONE, the pescarolos are all more than capable of destroying the field when a human is in charge. The reason people suggest the MINOLTA is because it is free.

In the end, any of the competitive AI cars in the race are good options for the races featuring this group. They just aren't free unlike the MINOLTA.

Edit - I know the GT-ONE is a prize too, it just appears too late for it to be a good prize car for Like the Wind

Most people have only mentioned the Minolta when people were asking how to beat certain events. Usually any mention of the Minolta is followed by "Win it in the Like the Wind races, and use it for the All Stars race." I don't think people are saying it's the best car in the game, just that it's one that you can actually get and use for certain events once you have it to make them pretty easy.

It is Free.

Case Closed.

The Nissan R69CP or Whatever it's called i got for 4.8 million is better than the Minolta In many ways, but I still got the Minolta first because that was available before I ever saw one in the UCD.

The GT-ONE is also free I must mention. Doing the B-spec 24 hr Le Mans gives it. Though it is rediculously high level, long, boring, and requiring of a similar car anyways.

Yeah all fair points the 'free' part being the most relevant. The problem I had was that I was only lvl 19 or 20 A-spec when I bought it because I couldn't do Like the wind. And as I was lvl 25 B-spec it seemed like a relativley cheap buy when it popped up n the dealership compared to buying a new R10 or the like, and gave my bob a good car to progress with in Dream car etc etc.

Edit -good memories from gt3 and 4 were also a big factor for me lol, always been a personal fav :)

The Minolta is pretty much top dog in terms of power and speed among the LMP cars. It does have it's draw backs but it is a very good car and it is free.

Like the wind can as said above be won with any LMP car. In fact it can be won with most the super GT cars and a few of the super cars as well as a couple of the RM cars as well. Most people who have the Minolta won it with a lesser car. In my case an F1 McLaren.
