Licensing issues shouldnt be a problem with older F1 cars as the license for them only includes the current and previous season. Also its not the FIA who would be the ones having a problem it would be FOM which is Bernie Ecclestones group which controls all the F1 trademarks and control who is able to license the sport of Formula 1. The only thing the FIA really do is set the rules for the teams and for what makes a venue safe for holding an F1 race.

I'm not sure if this is correct, either.

Reason I say that is because you can race the ferrari F1 car against other ferrari f1 cars in arcade mode, which would be a "f1 competition."

The game is just made so you cant use these awesome cars in a-spec mode.

You're absolutely correct :) I'm just tossing out an idea, and I sure don't know all the law-speak verbatim, but I'm certain that the F1 sanctioning body has something to do with it.

Reminds me of the Caterham in GT4, but i'm not sure that was a licensing issue, more like self-imposed rules to keep convertibles out of races...?

This.

Case Closed.:sly:
Not quite.

What if you want to race against other cars on nurburgring? imo racing an f1 car is the most intense and fun experience you can have in the whole gt series.

You know what I've considered? what if the reason is that they wanted to "encourage" us to use the formula gt...you know, the one that says PD all over it.

if they let us use the f2007 in all of the races there would be no reason for the formula gt car to exist. no one would use it. at least i certainly wouldnt. the formula gt's squirrley, unpredictable handling in far too much for most to handle, especially those using a controller. and the fgt can forget about hanging with the f2007 through turns due to the tremendous downforce advantage. the f2007 absolutely dominates the fgt on any course except tracks like indy. my record on nurburgring with the f2007 is like 20 seconds better than what i can do with the formulagt.

and as an added bonus the f2007 sounds feakin awesome. :)

Not sure I agree here, how is a bunch of cars from the same team racing each other an "F1 Competition"? That's a bunch of cars from the same team racing each other, not Formula One, which by definition has several teams and manufacturers. You're confusing the sport with the type of vehicles used in it.

yeah, i understand you. 👍

thanks for the warning.. I was considering buying an F1 car to basically cheat my way through those harder races....bummer.. well atleast you saved me the struggle of trying to buy one.. if anyone wants to play the F2007 just put in prologue and enter the cheat menu lol

That's kinda what I was going for, I'm just not articulate enough :)

Side note; F1 probably wouldn't like a "Monaco GP" endurance event or a "F1 World Championship" series in GT Life much either.

I started grinding by putting B spec Bob in the formula gran turismo car and letting him race around. Doesn't pay as much but its easy. I can do other things at the same time and he destroys the other cars in that thing. He's doing like the wind right now and he is about to lap the other cars

haha lol dude, awesome post.

yeah i know man. it's still kind of a bummer.

you could race the f2007 against the formula gt in gt for psp, not here, though.

its tough...drinking pot after pot of coffee just to stay awake through literally thousands of laps around the indianapolis track...

what i do is put my laptop right in front of and just a tiny bit below the tv and put movies on the lap top. that way i can mostly pay attention to the movies, but i can see the game just enough to keep the car going around and around and around.......and around.....

and around...........

Porsche have definitely missed an opportunity by not getting their motors on GT5. Surely every brand would love their cars on this game, you would of thought they would give PD full access knowing all that free advertising and what the GT brand is known for. i am gutted porsche aern't in as i love porsche and own a porsche boxster 987 gen 2.

Forgive my ignorance on the F1 series, but do the multiple drivers for the same team not race one another on race day?

You realize they're bound to a contract with EA, right?

They've already expressed the interest in wanting to be in a GT game, but again, bound to a contractual agreement with EA.

wow is that really the reason? i never knew that...

learn something new every day

Well isn't it also true that gt2 or gt3 did have a porsche on the disk or something? And caused a good bit of static between them and pd when it came out?

That would be the reason. Blame EA for not wanting to sub-license Porsche to PD. The license is to expire sometime soon (I forget when exactly) but if they're going to pounce on it, now would be the time.

Yeah. It was GT3, and I think the model was a GT3. They modeled it hoping to get the okay from Porsche but as that didn't happen, it had to be "locked away" into the game code. It's only accessible by using a GameShark. Same deal with the Nomad Diablo. Why do you think it's in GT5 now?

Because Lamborghini is in and no longer has any objection to it. :sly:

why would they make this game so you can't use either of the ferrari F1 cars in any of the races?

biggest, most boring grindfest of a video game i've personally played in 20 years to earn enough money to buy those cars. also, they're coolest cars in the game imo, and you can barely use them. what a shame. :grumpy:

Wait! You're telling me that there are Ferrari F1 cars in the game, but you can't even drive them! WHAT?

Darn i should have loaded gt3 up when i got my gameshark lol.

The Stratos I can't explain as GT has held the Lancia license since GT2, so I don't really know why that was left out....

well, you can't use them in A-spec mode, which constitutes the bulk of the gameplay...

you can use them in practice mode and arcade mode, though.

Have you guys seen this??

If you have gran turismo for psp, there is a much quicker way to earn yourself the f2007 for use in GT5 arcade mode than grinding out 12.5 million credits at indy.

On GTPSP, the f2007 only costs 8 mil, and the credits come more quickly on psp as well. you can use the bugatti on test course to earn enough credits to buy the F2007 in a littel over 3 hours. once you have the car on GT for psp, mark the car as a favorite in your psp garage, then connect the usb cable to gt5 on ps3 and upload your favorite cars from GTPSP into your portable garage. you only have to do this once, and then all your favorite cars from GTPSP will be available in GT5 arcade mode.

It seems like a pain, but keep in mind it will take 10 hours at indy to earn 12.5 million credits. disadvantage is that with the psp method you will only have the car in arcade mode instead of both practice and arcade modes.
