Why you should get the g27 over fanatec

I've owned a G27, MS force feedback wheel, Fanatec GT2 and CSR. I still have the CSR, GT2, and the MS wheel. I love all racing sims...

The logitech was flawless. Zero issues whatsoever. My CSR wheel is ok but its only a few months old. My GT2 has had issues for a while now. I first contacted fanatec over 3 months ago about problems with the wheel. After a long time they had me ship it to them. They shipped it back after about 5 weeks (it took a lot of prodding) and it still is broken. Now they have stopped responding to my emails.

If you don't believe me just google it and you will find complaints all over the web.

You have to be formal with fanatec to get 100% customer service. Instructions how to contact about warranty stuff is written in their site. My turbo S broke and after one email according to guidelines they sent me a new wheel.

To me logitech is like Porsche, reliable and performs fine. Fanatec is more like Ferrari, not so reliable but offers that special feeling which covers most of the cons.
Of course this might change in the future by logitech offering more higher end wheels and fanatec getting their reliability to same level with logitech.

The two performance factors currently in fanatecs favour compared to g27 are, more realistic feel and adjustability.

The performace of Thurstmaster T500 is very close to csr elite wheel in my scale.

I've been contemplating getting the new CSW when it comes out but I love the plug and play of my G27. I would like to have the adjustablity of the Fanatec wheels, but I don't want to spend time having to adjust my wheel to every different car I drive. Not to mention the reliability. With so many issues posted about Fanatec wheels both new and older models, it makes me want to just keep my G27 even with its minor inferioritys.

Fanatec reliability has increased a lot over the few years. There's still problems like any other product, but it's not a constant problem here solved now there's another issue kind of thing. When there is a problem, unless you're out of warranty they will repair it for you.

You will only need to adjust the settings depending on the game your playing. Only very rarely will you want to adjust them depending on the car. Often times you will adjust them for a certain car if you want to compete in series, so you adjust ABS settings to vibrate just before lockup, and maybe a few other things to get you fastest laps. Rarely will you have to do this.

Like every product, there's good and bad things. I've been a proud owner of Fanatec, and have only had one problem. They were quick to send me a replacement, which means I was back up and racing within the week! I would definitely say go for Fanatec if you really want to.

I was referring between games not cars. Console games lack the vast option of FFB adjustments found in PC games and Fanatec solves it by on wheel adjustments.

Fanatec reliability has increased over the years.... Seriously????

That right there is the first and most important reason why you should get the g27 or any other wheel for that matter over fanatec, THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER!!!

Let me tell you my story, yet in development, I bought the gt3 rs wheel 17 days ago, I came with a defective paddle shifter, lots of wiggle and play, gears would not engage, etc.
Contacted them the very first day, no answer until three days later and three more emails.
The guy whoever "THE OWNER" is recommended me to send a video illustrating the problem, so i did. Sent them new email couple days after to see what the status of my claim was, no response, only after three more emails and some threats, they respond to ask for a copy of the invoice (which by the way they didn't send in the box) so I send them my PayPal transaction page) so I did. No the person tells me thanks we have received your video, two days after, nothing happened, so at this point I'm really pissed off, I send them a new email, they respond "sorry we didn't get your video, send it again"

I mean, there's been almost three weeks since I first communicated with them, if they would have wanted to fix their mess, they would have already. These people only go around the bushes to MAKE TIME and get away with it, I mean, COUNTLESS REQUISITES TO PROCESS YOUR CLAIM, I'm pretty sure a life insurance for 2 million dollars does not require nearly as much paperwork and B.S. as this people put you through.

Long story short, after 8 emails and almost three weeks, (Im amazed of how patient I've been with these people, I guess I wanted to believe in them) I opened a case on PayPal to try and get my money back, to all of you who have been done wrong by this used. At sales persons please share your experiences/thoughts.

My only advice is when you buy from this people, PAY WITH PAYPAL so at least you have some leverage and will not be put out of your hard earned money!!!!

I mean, the whole thing is shady, what else can you expect from a company who DOES NOT PROVIDE A PHONE NUMBER for customer service!!!

EDIT: ^I haven't had a single bad experience with customer service. As long as you follow all the request they will get to you within hours. After I sent an E-Mail to support I got one back ten minutes later. Remember to follow what they request you add, otherwise you won't get a response for a couple days.

Sorry, should've pointed it out. I was talking about the guy above me who said he didn't want to adjust the settings for each individual car. Sorry for the confusion.

I own G27 and CSR Elite. The G27 is better and 1000 times more reliable. The XBOX support is the only reason for me to not sell the CSR.

reliability...

Logitech = reliable and 100% great customer service...

Fanatec = not so reliable and fawked up customer service..

Are you serious..? Really think the G27 is better..?
I'd only go back to Logitech for the service (yes, also had my share of problems with Fanatec) but the wheel (and CSP's) is 1000x better than the Logi's IMO and therefore I'd never go back to Logitech.

Oh look, it's this thread again...

If Logitech ever makes a decent Xbox compatible wheel, I would consider buying it. For now I will stick with my CSR Elite and Clubsports. I also have a Turbo S wheel and it had problems a while back. After a couple of weeks doing the email dance with customer service, they sent me a new wheel and even let me keep the old one. So far my CSR Elite wheel is working ok, just has some play in the shaft like most do and the clubsports have been awesome, just need a little maintenance now and then.

I'd pick Clubsports over g27 pedals. I know an alien that uses g27 + CSPs (Scott M, 2011 Rolex Champion).

I dont know bout anyone else's customer service issues but mine has been great. My load cell went bad. I simply followed their directions, included video, receipt, etc and got my part quickly. Now I am happily using a 100% working CSP again.

well, awful customer service with fanatec seems to be a constant, and in all fairness, their product is not that great either.

This people is going to reap me off, MARK MY WORDS, when this whole thing is over, i would have ended up with a still broken wheel and a lot of frustration. open your eyes, i'm not saying all of their products are defective, but the treatment they give to the claims, and the way the handle the situation leaves a lot to be desired.

i mean I PAID FOR A PRODUCT WITH MY HARD EARNED MONEY, I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BEG FOR YOUR HELP if your s*& came broken. and in top of everything this CLOWNS get mad because after ALMOST THREE WEEKS and countless emails i decided to OPEN A PAYPAL CLAIM in an effort to recover my money.

I know how they go about this whole thing, the minute you contact them with a claim, they start counting to LET 45 DAYS PASS, so you are out of resourcess and can't initiate a paypal dispute anymore. this pleople are smart and full of tricks, to the better style of a used car salesman.

what good is it if a company has a good product but their customer service is S*&^? i guess is buyers beware, just buy it and pray doesn't come broken or you're on your own.

i think i'm going to open a new thread, " THE TRUTH ABOUT FANATEC..." pretty dramatic lol.

Writing your review and experience with a customer service is always a good start- not only does it warrant Fanatec's attention but along with that, any future customers' consideration.

My past experience tells me that it's best if you leave any expletives or any subjective opinions out of your review. Be professional and when people read your opinion(s), they have a higher esteem of the person who's review they're reading. And it goes both ways- you'll be taken more seriously which is the point of why you're writing. The Internet is full of personal opinions to make them matter anymore. Of course, the irony is that this is my opinion- so take it at your own peril :)

I just got mine and It works perfectly with Forza4 but I am still trying to find a good tunning for the GT5.... until I get it the way I like it I will keep my G27 around.
If you are planning to get the CSR to play only GT5, don't do it! Go get a G25 or G27... the only reason I got the CSR is because I constantly play GT5 and Forza4 and it is easier to swap between xbox and ps3 mode.
The overall quality is good.
I am not so sure about customer service but it is always good to know who I am dealing with.

Fanatec was working with me. I have about 50 emails archived from our discussions. I've sent numerous videos of my problems. They just grew tired of dealing with me. I started contacting them about my problems about 4 months ago. It took several months just to get rolling with the repair. I mailed it to them and they just kept it. After a few emails they sent it back (at first they claimed they never received it). Fortunately I had the tracking info ready to prove I sent it. However they only fixed half the problems. Please don't give me the "follow protocol and they will help" line. They were already communicating with me.

Those of you posting the "oh this thread again" stuff obviously haven't wasted $250 on a defective product that didn't last 6 months before it broke.

Right now, the only problem is that it won't calibrate. They sent me a replacement sensor to fix it but unfortunately it was the wrong part.

^Were posting "Oh It's This Thread Again" because every couple of weeks we have a new member join just to complain about Fanatec, or Logitech, or Thrustmaster. There's really no need to complain about it on the forums. This isn't a Fanatec help desk section, this is the Sim Racing Hardware section.

So what value does a forum have that is titled, Sim Racing Hardware, if it doesn't provide information on people's experiences with that hardware and company?

I prefer to spend my money on the real thing but I do like having a nice wheel for occasional sim racing. Being able to determine which one is my best bet is the only reason I visit forums like this.

I appreciate the folks that take the time to post, be it positive or negative. Helps the rest of us lurkers on our decision making. 👍

The forum does provide information regarding peoples experiences. If the OP and other poster had carried out a simple forum-search, they would have found at least three relevant threads that would have been more suitable to comment in rather than making another thread.

Hence: "It's this thread again".

Everyone here was a forum lurker at one time or another, thats how everyone starts out. i think his basic problem was not with new members asking the same question over and over (thats completely understandable for newbs), his problem is with people who criticize products just to stir the pot, get a reaction out of others. like if i didnt know anything about roses and went to a flower growers forum and said, "roses arent as fragrant as lilys" just to wait for people who are passionate about roses to correct me quickly with the info i was seeking. it would have been better to research roses first and ask questions, and do my own research rather that stirring the pot...thats all he meant, stay here with us and learn stuff :)

I have recently dealt with Fanatec support due to the d-pad joystick on the CSR breaking. I sent in a video, photos, and detailed description of the problem and within days (over a weekend) I had a reply stating they would send me a new CSR.

Fanatec has been good to me and I will continue to purchase their products.

Agreed. Also one of the best return policy they have - ship out a new unit first then ship back the defective unit. No need to send in for repairs & testing unlike some company.

Even better: I'm currently waiting for a CSR Elite replacement (mid march) and fanatec already paid me the shippingcost for sending my current CSR Elite back (after i received the replacement)

I finally got around to downloading the firmware 721b for my elite last night. what an amazing time i had, i fell in love with sim racing all over again. played forza for 4 straight hours (i usually average about 1.5 hours) and i was spent at the end. particulalyusing the new dlc honda performance lola, running around the infineon indy circuit. it just blew my mind when i turned the volume waaaay up- the best wheel, the best sounding engine noises, and a really fun track are a combination of perfection (especially like the way it vibrates the butkicker). i think that car is like the porsche rs spyder from forza 3 but even more fun and nicer engine noises. i was grinning from ear to ear

No no no, he prefaced it with "Don't believe me? Check the web!"

That trumps all! Lol
