Guys I want to know wich ps3 model should I look to purchase to play Gt6.

My Fat 80gb model shutoff in less than 30 minutes of gt6 playing time. It's a nightmare.

I'm wiling to purchase another model to be able to play GT6.

Your help is much apreciated.

Thanks for your time!

Does it shutoff because of the temperature? Try cleaning the "intake" and "exhaust" of your cooling to see if it improves. Also using some forced cooler or switching to a ssd hd could probably help you maintain your current system.
I use a fat too and can play for hours at 30°+C ambient temp

My system is clean, cool ambient and well maintain. It's Gt6 design that my ps3 model can play eficient.

Please vote if your model have crashed.

I also have a 120gb slim, that I bought a few months before GT5 was released. Can't say I have had much trouble with it though I have had it freeze up a few times it has not been a big deal. I have played everyday since release and over that period I have had it freeze up maybe 5 or 6 times.

As for the poll it is meaningless no one will be able to tell you which one crashes the most as no one has played on all of them enough to know. Also the fact that one person may have had 5 crashes and another 10 does not mean much unless it is put in context. How many hours have they played and what they do when they play.

I did not vote in the poll because as I said it is meaningless and any choice would be misleading to readers.

That said the game is definitely very playable on the 120 slim.

I wouldn't give up on my ps3 if it had some crashes, i would prolly take it for some maintenace, see if its all "kosher" on the inside.
Do you use digital or disc copy?

Disc copy.

As my oficial language is not english, I don't know the way to ask for help or advice.

What I know is that my ps3 can pass 30 minutes of playing gt6.

If you can help me to investigate wich ps3 model to buy and avoid problems with gt6, I will apreciate alot.

Thanks for your time!

Well in my case I have the 120gb slim. I have played it everyday since release, some days 8 hours or more without any issues at all. In the last week it has froze up on me 1 time and that was during an online race. I have had it freeze twice when going into the pits online in practice mode and trying to exit back to the lobby, both times I had went into the pits to fast and my friend had the same issue. We stopped going into the pits to exit practice and that problem has not happened since. I had it freeze once while loading after applying the 1.02 patch. And twice while doing something in the menus.

My PS3 has never been cleaned, is almost 4 years old and works fine. So based on my experience and what I have read online I would go with the 120 slim if I were to buy a new one, or then again I might consider the 12gb slim and buy a 120gb SSD to put in it instead,

Of course forst thing I would do is try and clean the one you have and make sure it is not just overheating

btw My brother has a 320gb slim and has had a few issues with it even though he has not played very much. Not sure if that one is more of a problem or if it is just his unit

Maybe it's too early in the morning but the poll kind of confuses me.. am I voting for my PS3 model and how many crashes I've had or vote for the one you should get based on the amount of crashes we've heard about? I have the OG Slim model PS3 and it's been working like a champ w/ GT6, the only freezing issue I had was the Kart Series where it occasionally froze between races, I believe this was something PD had to patch and not an issue with the PS3 model. Other than that I've not had crashing problems

mine Fat PS3 250gb gave to play GT6 five or seven days, after many freezes, after some restart the system, she DIED !
corrupted data base! then bought Slim PS3 12GB and made a upgrade Hard disc Toshiba 1TB, never again had any issues.

From my tests, only the 1st gen fats - the launch batch CECHAxx, CECHBxx, CECHCxx, CECHExx - suffer, from what seems to be a data transfer bottleneck from BD to HDD. My 60Gb launch PAL console (CECHCxx) is not a happy camper when it comes to playing GT6.

2nd gen fats (CECHG, H, J, K, L, M, P, Qxx) don't seem to suffer the same problem - our 80Gb PAL console (CECHKxx) has been used to acquire much of the data for the GTPEDIA update. We don't have a slim, but the 12Gb superslim (CECH-40xx) has been absolutely fine.

Do you purchased the new model super slim 12gb?

Mine crashed once. Since then I have been exiting the game and then switch off the PS3.
I haven't had one since.

I have a 60GB original that is used almost exclusively for GT. That is daily though. :)

I bought mine just before GT 5... And it works fine, not sure if its a slim but it's pretty fat... And noisier than my Xbox...
