I love the idea, but if PD doesn't allow us to adjust the wheel offset or wheel width to fill in the wheel arches (or if it doesn't do it automatically) throw the idea in the trash. It's the little details like that.. That's where PD tends to miss the mark alot. Judging from videos, it looks like my fears are correct. Hopefully they address this somehow through an update or before launch.

There is a screenshot doing the rounds of wheel offset being an option in the game somewhere, so hopefully that will do the trick as they widebodies will definitely look odd without that.

That's because you seem to have a habit of not looking at anything.

Would prefer it as a track width option instead of just rim adjustment but it's there.

I'm a busy guy with a lot of stuff going on. I have very little time to devote to researching things about an upcoming Gran Turismo

You're saying they should throw ideas in the trash because you haven't done any research. Do your research and save everyone else time. 😉. Little tickle of the search button would have done it in a few seconds.

With the 2nd point, wheel offset is a form of track adjustment, albeit by altering the whole look of the rim, effectively creating a deep dish style wheel rim, in most scenarios, which isn't always to the taste of everyone. Rim width will probably be the most commonly used thing for getting the track wider in the game, however that would also require wider tyres and again, isn't always the best option IRL depending on the build.

Hence games like Forza, and in real life, cars actual track width can be extended, via spacers or more clever/high end upgrades. In some cases even allowing wider tyres to be fitted and giving more flexibility in wheel offsets and so on.

Huh? You can have a very negative offset wheel and it not be concave or "deep dish". No one who seriously tracks a car or races in any type of series uses wheel spacers unless they have a wheel that isn't the proper offset and they need brake clearance. Wheel spacers are for drifters. You buy the proper offset wheels and that's it imo. And when you say "more clever/high end upgrades" i'm not following.. Outside of wheel offset/rim width, you can't really go buy extended control arms for a car and just make everything wider, i mean you can but you need to have copious amounts of money to burn, speaking for a irl scenario.

Fingers crossed that something like this could be allowed, but maybe is too much to ask to. Also using something similar with the De Tomaso Pantera would be great.

I mean, you can but it still has to dish or concave inwards to achieve offset, you're talking about having negative offset without any concave or dishing which isn't a common thing, I'd be hard pushed to think of a time where I'd seen negative offset that isn't concave or dished in some form or another at all.

There are fundamentals to how it works. If the wheel hub is behind the wheel centre line then it's negative offset. Thereby concaved or dished.

Rim width as I said will be the most common way of achieving the wider track look in the game as it won't affect how the wheel rim looks like the offset will/should. Wheel spacers aren't exclusively for drifters, plenty of club level racers and track builds, off road builds etc will use spacers. Perfectly fine when good quality, hub centric spacers are used.

For high end applications yes, expensive extended control arms and the like that goes into more custom level builds, you know like building a race car (not too dissimilar to the application in Gran Turismo) it wouldn't be too much to think perhaps that would be integrated. As we've seen so far it doesn't appear to be, which is a shame as the other methods have visual and physical compromises but we move.

Depends on the design of the wheel. You can machine or cast the mating surface where the wheel meets the hub to protrude, all the while maintaining a very flat face, or a very very shallow dish. Team Dynamics is a prime example of this. They sell crazy negative offset wheels, all the while maintaining a very flat face. Granted the stud holes are fairly deep, but the face is flat.

But now you're talking about having specific wheels available in the game. So again, another way of circumventing the issue of track width.

Why is it ridiculous? Frequenting a forum of interest for 18 years and racking up post count is quite common. Why does that give you a right to belittle anyone.

I'm not belittling anyone. I just find it amazing that people can talk about a video game that much. Also, any company could make a wheel like that. The concave/deep dish look is just popular.

Eh, this is my usual stir the pot on GTP time before a new GT release. I'll frequent the site for a couple weeks after release to complain then i'll pop back in after a few years. Building cars and racing in real life is far more fun.

You seem to say things with little to no information behind it and because this is the internet, whatever you say is open to criticism,
