I just thought I'd post this conversation I had today on AIM with someone who randomly IMed me:

Ebola In America: u and ur car company design website people wanna sponcer a 3 person paintball team?
Jpec2: uhm, I have website design people?
Jpec2: thanks for telling me
Ebola In America: what do u do with the cars?
Jpec2: now I just have to find out who they are
Jpec2: oh
Ebola In America: dont u promote them on the website?
Jpec2: that
Jpec2: not really, I just sit around and chop the cars for fun
Jpec2: (but you have my attention, go on)
Ebola In America: we're (me and 2 friends) are looking for sponcers, and we'll promote the company every time we play paintball while wearing ur company shirts or w/e
Jpec2: I don't have a company, but I might be interested in making your logos and such
Ebola In America: we need money basicly
Jpec2: That I don't have
Ebola In America: i see
Jpec2: running out of paintballs?
Ebola In America: we're giong to the pepsi conneticut headquarters
Ebola In America: need new guns

Now, this conversation just had me irked out for about half an hour. Not just the name of the guy either, but that last comment there. Makes me think that I won't want to drink Pepsi for the next couple days...

Yeah... some kids saw your website, and wanted to know if you'd be interested in sponsoring their paintball team. Doesn't get much more odd than that!

:odd:

I think it's a cool idea, sort of. It'd be alot better if there were an actual nationwide, televised, Paintball Organization. :odd:ness.

You'd be amazed at the unreasonable expectations people have about how sponsorship works.

I agree. It seems like if you were asking for money, you would use correct grammar, or at least not abbreviate. Even on an instant messenger, that does not make you look good...

Edit: Not that I would sponsor someone who talked to me over AIM anyway...

However, don't you think the screenname Ebola In America is extremely charming?

Having come from the amateur racing / car show area, I can't tell you how many people I've seen who think that companies will pay you to fix up your car if you just put a sticker with their name on it.

And yes, it's usually people with atrocious spelling and grammar who think that.

I think a lot of you are missin the point.

-His name is "Ebola in America" - hence, the worlds deadliest virus.

-He's going to the Pepsi plant and needs a projectile weapon to complete his task.

Obviously it's a joke,.. no one would be stupid enough to put their intentions reguarding such a plan out in the open like that,... but, still ;)

Well, I think sponsorship works two ways:

1. You have to do promotional stuff in return for a sticker on your car.

2. You proudly pay extra money to wear a shirt with a logo on it or slap a sticker on your car because it looks cool.

Good to see you back, IR.

" - I'll have to remember and incorperate that one, if you dont mind 👍

Update: The guy just IMed me back saying "Did you get the money?" I responded saying "Look, I don't have a company, and I'm not giving you my money!"
