Do you guys have a wierd button combination that somehow just stuck to you when you drift? Assuming that you use an analog controller, I have one that simulates a clutch kick that also works similarly to the way you floor the AE86's 4AG all the way through a turn. Works great for extending drifts. Well, here it goes:

1) Transfer weight
2) Release gas
3) Quickly tap in the following order;
- downshift
- handbrake
- brake
- gas
4) Gas throughout turn to keep drifting

This question is one out of a million but I couldn't get it outta my mind cause it always worked (I use this in my 180X Fastback in Trial Mountain where the big S-Turn comes up before the Starting line).

The only one I can think of is - Weight transfer, tap brakes, countersteer, gas.

I do that quite a lot, usually without even thinking about it. It seems to work, so I've never really tried to stop doing it.

oh yeah, of course, no, that comes natural along with other tecniques but I'm just sayin', I think I could be the only one using this wierd button combo that works. I'm sure other people have something similar.

brake, turn , downshift, steady gas ..... and then counter steer, and FLOORR ZOOM ZOOM:lol:

I always downshift when I am going into turn. It's a weird habit that i always do and I think it's because whenever I am driving my car in real life, I never touch the brake unless I'm doing something with the clutch (engine braking, downshifting). I just can't keep my hand off the stick.

I know what you mean..... I almost always downshift before a turn, so I will have more power, and be able to exit the turn quickly. Really, it's is just good racing sense, and has become a habit.......

cut early, countersteer, gas, e-brake, downshift, continue e-brake, gas and countersteer throught the rest of the turn
off topic: monkey, nice signature

ty...all of these newbs are starting to piss me off with these stoopid threads...its so damn annoying...

ps- i know i spelled stupid wrong....its a habit...

Precisely. The thread asks about quirks you do when you drift not how you drift.

Me, the only thing out of standard drifting that I can think of is (when with high-powered cars) sometimes I do the weight transfer too early, so then I hit the brakes hard and countersteer at the same time to somewhat go in a straight line sideways, trying to reach the entrance of the turn, hopefully I'll be carrying enough speed by then. Looks cool how the car 'crab walks' into the corners though.

that is what i do also its weird....i always do it and it always drifts better like that... then i tryed to do it with out downshifting and it went to fast and hit the wall... :(

I just brake when necessary, downshift, and floor it while countersteering and it works for me. Pretty standard combo i think.

FEINT TO EBRAKE TO COUNTERFEINT TO BRAKE LOCK TO COUNTERSTEER LOCK TO OPPOSITE LOCK TO GAS TO HOLD TO EBRAKE EXTENDER TO GLIDE TO 360 SPIN OUT TO GUAAAARRRDDDRRRAAAILLLLLLL'D!

It is possible to shift lock. If you drop revs by tapping the e-brake, and quickly downshift, the drivetrain will stiffen. Something like that. Essentially, you have to trick the auto clutching mechanism into dropping the clutch without rev-matching.

brake, downshift, tranfer weight, accel (occasional tap of acc to gain control) counter steer when necessary, mainly i use faint drifitng but thats just me

you still replied.............. nuff said

This might be bad technique but. Turn, tap brake, regulate throttle, countersteer.
