Will AIDS ever die off?

Will AIDS/HIV become a thing of the past?

I was just thinking, maybe it'll be like the Black Death. Maybe, after all the people who carry it die off(not saying that in a mean sence or anything) do you think AIDS will forever be gone? Or do you think that people will keep on spreading it before they go on, so the other people end up spreading it?
 
I agree with M5 they will cure it before it dies off
 
It will never go away. While scientists will find a cure for the current virius that is a given, but with all viri they also adapt and mutate to something usually worse and harder to kill off. Nature's way of providing a way and means for all species to survive. Unfortuneatly viri are not a welcome species for us humans.
 
My main worry, although it's not to great as of now, is that when we're trying to cure AIDS/HIV, some experiment will go wrong, contaminate people, and since those people won't know they're contaminated, will go on and spread the new virus to others, and thus create a chain reaction.

Anyone ever read The Stand by Stephen King?
 
No I haven't but now I think I will pick it up and do that. It is really scary when you sit and think about it. How different strains of viri have begun to pop up and are becoming more and more resistant to treatment.

I just had a though while typing this. This reminded me of a move, Demolision Man (bloody spelling). There was that part when Stalone was getting told about the different desiese that popped up and how the new order if you will, did not cure them but used a new way of no contact to stop the spread and eventually they were able to clear up society. I really hope it never comes to that because I honestly would miss the intimate relationships we currently enjoy with the opposite sex.
 
I remember Demolition Man. It wasn't too great of a movie, if I recall correctly. Stalone never really had many great movies other than the Rambo series and the Rocky run. Even those got poor after a few...
