Hey,im going to buy a PS3 500 GB that comes in a pack with GT5 Academy Editon and Uncharted 3,i am wondering if it will work with my Sony CRT TV from the 1990´s
This was a top notch tv,the model is a quite large Trinitron

Similar to that one :)
I have played lots of PS2 on this TV including GT4,so im wondering how will the game look and will it work, and what cables does it have, the scart or three coloured (yellow-white-red ones)Thats all!

Should do as ps3s ship with scart leads rather than HDMI cables. As to how it looks it wont be hd and sharp but it will most likely work.

Ok thats very important to know thanks guys and is the price ok,its 2700 HRK which is 308.96 GBP and my tv doesnt do scart but the chinch cables, but im gonna ask the girl that works in the shop more about that

Not only does the PS3 offer analog output, GT5 even has an "SDTV zoom" feature that makes it easier to read the needlessly small text they put into HD games these days. 👍

Ah,i love how they think of us!
Even though its a bit unnecesary in GT5,but yeah it does help sometimes i guess,i will probly get my PS3 tommorow..

My PS3 came with the Yellow Red White cable set.

I used an adapter that I bought for my PS2 to get the Red Green Blue - Red White instead so I could get HD image, then switched to HDMI.

I would think that most of the PS3 consoles come with the Yellow video connector

I will work regardless of TV. I personally myself have a 36in CRT TV, all you have to do is hook up the jacks in the color coded position and you're set. Don't forget to press input on your remote.

All righty then,i was just wondering if the game would work on this TV,and how it would work, anyways thank you
Here is the exact model on ebay

Basically the requirement for connection to an older SDTV is that the TV must have the red white and yellow RCA jacks on it in order to connect directly. The set you linked says it has RCA inputs so you should be fine.

That said you can also get a PS3 to work on an older set that does not have RCA inputs by routing it though a VCR or some DVD players. Basically if you have a VCR or DVD that works with your TV then you have at least one way to connect the PS3 to it as all VCRs have RCA inputs and most DVD players do as well.

If it does not have scart, the order of quality (lowest to highest) will be: 1. Composite (yellow, + red and white), 2. S-video (looks similar to a ps2 connector), 3. Component (red, green, blue, + red and white). For SD: composite to s-video will be a big jump in quality, s-video to component, not so much.

Also, I don't know what it is like over there, but in Australia we sometimes have people giving away very good crts, including widescreen HD sets. In that case component would be a massive jump because it can carry up to 1080p resolution (obviously up to 1080i for a crt).

Well my parent bought this TV in australia 15 years ago or more for tons of money, but the one im using will be composite, except if i play at my grandparents house they have a LCD tv so it would look better there...

Sorry for double posting, but i may have a dvd player that may work with my other, smaller CRT tv,but then it wont be worth playing :/
Oh,and will i get black bars on the side of the tv screen or i wont?

Thats the one they have if im not wrong but it would be wrong to play it there (morally wrong)
but yeah im probly gonna play at home and sometimes bring to play it at my grandparents house, and its probly full hd,but will this CRT have black bars on the side of the screen?

CRT have black bars on the side of the screen. No but try it and let me know
I will be away from the PC for 1 hour

To the TC, how are you posting this thread about ancient tv's? On your phone or laptop? If not then you must have an LCD PC monitor and most likely with a DVI input. Just get an HDMI to DVI cable and use your existing analog cables for audio or if you have an AVR then use the optical better. This is the cheapest cheapskate way to go for HD. It is crisp and most likely better than the majority of smaller regular LCD tv's. The downside is being smaller. Quality over quantity.

I forget to mention that I had a 32" Sony XBR back in the day. In that time I started experimenting with my 360 and VGA to a 15" VGA only monitor. I never went back to my Sony.

Well that is pretty crappy,im planning to get the PS3 tommorow, but i need to go by bus (*°%$**&#**)Yeah im using a LCD PC monitor not sure if it has DVI input, but its small, then it will be like playing on PC instead of playing on PS3 and the PC isnt only mine you know...
I HATE BLACK FREAKING ****ING BARS,AND I DONT WANT TO PLAY AT GRANDPARENTS HOUSE BECAUSE I WANT THEM TO WATCH TV IN PEACE ROARRRGH AND I DONT WANT TO PLAY ON MY MONITOR

Play on your CRT until you can save up enough to buy a cheap LCD for yourself? Not sure what you mean by black bars, but GT5 will take up your whole screen and you can use R1 on the controller to zoom in on menus. That way people with little/old TV's can see what they're clicking 👍
