Couldn't find a thread on this, but i was wondering do you guys think racing NASCAR in GT5 will be as good as iRacing or worse? Just wondering because iRacing seems very very entertaining i just don't feel like paying for the monthly fee. Hopefully GT5 can live up to this and blow everyone's mind. If they can nail the bump physics and all i will have to buy three versions of the game just because it will be that good.

What?

If you buy 3 games at $60 that would be way more than what iracing costs.

As for how they will work, like everything else GT5 related we don't know.

Well I mean you only get to play for like 2 years of iRacing but infinity for gt5 haha

I use to play iRacing! its damn awesome sim. It beats GT5P out of water, but I never did NASCAR, i did road racing, with the Pontiac Solstice cup, somehow the physics reminded me of GT5Prologue, as well Daytona in both games look very simular. I felt at home in GT5P after playing iRacing and Daytona and the car physics.. Altho I never try the Higher Level of cars, since I only play the game for 3 months with Solstice only.

It was a tossup for me at the time between the online games that I used to play. Although I enjoyed iRacing at my cousin's place, I was hooked with WoW on my computer. Between those 2 games, I could honestly only make time for one of them.

If Daytonas any indications than Im not sure. The turns in Daytona seem sharper than they are IRL or in actual NASCAR games. You have to brake to get around the track, I don't believe this is so in real life. That's the problem when Daytona is put into a non NASCAR game, the feel they need to make it harder by making the turns sharper and making you have to brake into the turns, but the real track is not like that.

The tracks in iRacing are very accurate laser scanned recreations, the physics are the most realistic in any simulator so far and real NASCAR drivers use it to train and do online leagues, so yes, i do believe its like that in real life.

And the core of iRacing is NASCAR.

You're forgetting that a NASCAR stock car is specifically designed to drive around ovals, unlike a road going car, which could possibly explain how the experience of driving on Daytona Speedway in a game like GT5: Prologue is vastly different to a game such as iRacing.

Duh, i got him wrong.
But yeah perfectly explained, theres nothing comparable to a stockcar in GT5P.

Is that actually online gameplay ? If so, I'm amazed.

I wish I had a rig or the money to build a rig to play IRacing.
My laptop is only really good for some EVE and some FPS. I remember an article in Grassroots magazine about IRacing and they also featured an article on building a gaming PC that could run it to the full capacity. The problem with me is I would rather just pop the disc in a $300 console and start playing.

yeah thats online gameplay, looks crazy fun huh? Thats why i am hoping GT5 can get somewhere close to it.

Racing in iRacing is all online. The only offline part are time trial laps.

Wait, did I get that right on iRacing with NASCARS you have to brake for corners on Daytona track? :odd:

Edit/ Maybe I'm confusing it, but that just sounds wrong...

No braking, just letting off the throttle so you don't rear end the car/truck infront of you.

Man, that looks crazy fun. Road racing, oval racing, or rally racing....with the private rooms, I think GT5 online will be a very interesting place in indeed....

*Is now heavily considering building a gaming rig!

yeah, I know, I was going to reserve judgment for GT5 until I could actually get a real stockcar on the track.

Ah, ok thanks. That's what I thought ... I used to watch every NASCAR race when it was broadcast here in Germany, but people don't understand it, I guess, so they stopped broadcasting. :(

The only reason people don't like NASCAR is because they don't understand it. By people I mean true racing fans.

Actually that nascar racing did get the old adrenaline running whilst just watching it.

Precision driving - like the red arrows flying type thing aye it.

You have to be so aware of your surrounding opposition.

Same, but it wasnt because no one cared.
Nextel and now Sprint wanted too much money from Eurosport for the broadcasting rights. Its a shame, i watched it a lot with my dad back then when it was still the Winston Cup. 8(

Here in Sweden NASCAR is broadcasted live. It's even on at sports bars like O'Learys some times, at least it was one time when I was there and had a few cold ones. :)

The channel it's shown on is called Viasat Motor, and they also broadcast Indy Car, F1, GP2, WRC, STCC etc etc.

(Slightly off topic there, lol!)

pretty much its an online only pc racing game which requires a racing wheel of some sort. If you happen to not have a wheel, a 360 controller might work and i have heard that joysticks work fine also. It does cost money about $100 USD yearly. More information on the link below.

Hello, and welcome to GTPlanet. We're glad to have you here, but please don't use text msg words like "wat" and "cuz". We like our users to post with capital letters, punctuation, and real spelling. It helps keep the quality of posts on our forum at a better quality level and helps out the readers who are not native English speakers.

iRacing is a PC-based game with a subscription service. The tracks models and the driving physics are excellent, and the real benefit is that they are very strict with keeping punters out. The downside is that it is not cheap and you also have to buy added tracks and cars.
