Will GT6 2.0 (or final version) be too close to GT7 ? (sales impact)

Seeing the speed PD is releasing things for GT6 and the fact that Kaz told (lied:P) about GT7 being ready 2014-2015 don't you think that the updates putted into GT6 so late after release date wont matter when it comes to sales?

If they manage to release all the promised features and upgrade even part of the engine sounds (FXX...) within a month then yeah I see people buying the game, but if they think mid-2014 to get it all done - I see it hardly impacting the sales figures.

Not only because of proximity of GT7 but also because of PS3 becoming more irrelevant.

Then we have another thing - keeping fans happy - acquiring long term "clients". So even if they take few months to bring everything to GT6 while it may not drastically impact GT6 sales those who bought the game (2mln with digital sales ?) will be pleased with PD buying tracks/cars DLCs and GT7.

What do you think ?

I don't understand the part about KY lying about GT7 release date and I also don't think PS3 is close to being irrelevant just because the PS4 is out. PS2 had long legs even after PS3 was released and I would expect the same for PS3. I think PD not supporting GT6 the way they have said they will would do more to harm future sales (both GT6 and 7) than supporting GT6 close to GT7 release.

Just because new and better tech is available doesn't mean everyone has already adopted it. Sony will continue to support and even manufacture the PS3 until the general public couldn't give a flying F about it anymore.

Right now, with how the industry is playing games with our wallets, the next gen systems are not all that good. As consumers we have to a bit strategic with our purchases, because if we just blindly buy up whatever is being offered without questioning whether it's what we really want for our money, we'll get shafted every time. I think people get this though and that's why the sales records haven't been insane like they were with the last gen.

Timing is important yes, but GT6 and the PS3 still have plenty of life in them, so I don't think timing will affect sales. The quality of the game will though.

Look at all the yearly franchises....PD is good with at least not banging out GT5-6-7 in 3 years. They certainly test our patience sometimes, but at least they don't go full blown stupid and just continue to pump out content, hoping it will make up for past mistakes.
