Will most likely only use Premiums (where possible)

I don't want this to sound like a complaint because that's not what it is.

I have convinced myself that unless an event requires you to specifically use a standard car and providing they give you enough funds at the beginning of the game, I will stick to the premiums. There is, I believe, enough variety there to keep me going for a very long time.

One thing that does interest me. I assume there are only 4 LeMans cars that are premium in the game? Citroen GT Race Car, Mazda 787B, Peugeot 908 HDI and the Audi R10 TDI, right?

By the looks of things, Nascar, Karts and Japanese Super GT cars have enough variety in the premium models to not bother with the standards imo (Nascar and Karts are premium only).

It may only be for races such as Japanese 80's sportscars (like in GT4) where you may have to use a standard.

Almost all Japanese cars that interest me are premiums anyway so I won't see myself using the standards too often.

Is there anyone else who will do the same?

I know with my great love for things that burn rice I will tend to use more standard than premium. Me being a bumper cam guy the premium vs standard doesn't affect me as much. But I'm still gonna hate having to look at those god awful looking wheels. I mean come on... who can stand those wheels on the eg civic? horrible

I'm a bumper cam guy as well, so the issue with Standards and Premiums wont bother me.

I'm happy with most of the Premiums (80%) and intend to buy them while still wanting a good number of Standards... especially since I didn't play GT4.

Yeah it's no big deal for those who are used to racing with bumper cam or roof cam but I just don't feel immersed in the racing unless it's from the cockpit. Somehow, it feels like my car is floating on the track rather than gripping it properly. Still, there are 200 odd premiums so that's plenty of variety.

I wonder what would be the premium competitors for the likes of the Zonda R? It's pretty much a race car.

I'm using a 20" so bumper view at least gives me some view, with interior view there is hardly anything left to look at.

Bumper view so also no issue with Premium or Standard cars.
Premium cars for Photo mode though.

Zonda R huh? well I don't see any "road cars" that will keep up. At least in stock trim on the ring. My bet would be a "race car" which is basically what the Zonda R is.

I'm thinking along the same lines, I only use cockpit view so unless I have to use a standard car I probably won't be using them much. I am kind of annoyed but there is still plenty of variety in the 200 premium cars to keep me entertained.

Yeah, it's going to be just premium cars for me. I'm totally spoiled with cockpit view.

Looking over the Premium car list, I see a lot of my must-haves (thank God Ferrari is getting lots of love), so I should be able to get by. And I'm hoping for (kinda expecting) DLC cars in the future.

Let's be grateful that they at least added 200+ premiums (still the largest number of cars outside of Forza). If it were a case of GT5P plus another 10-15 cars I would be pissed big time.
However, the day/night thing interests me a lot as does dynamic weather 👍
That will really boost the game's image in my eyes, particularly when the wipers come on and day turns to night (dipped/main beam lights)

Track list is good for me, too. Eiger Nordwand is beautiful.

Cockpit view is too low. When I line up the horizon the way it is in GT5 and Prologue, halfway down the windshield, my nose is practically at dash level. And considering how much of the interior you can see, it makes it look like you're lying down Lambo style with the seat pushed back a bit. So for me it's messed up, but I guess some of you do drive like that. Roof cam for me, with an occasional chase cam to see what I'm doing wrong on a track.

If you guys turn your noses up at the Standards, you're going to be missing some pretty sweet cars. You know... no Countach or Veyron for instance. But in my case, many of the rides I covet from GT4. After dumping some of the cars in my GT4 garage that I knew I'd never drive again, I still have over 375 cars. And I want more than that. Now I can focus solely on GT5, since those cars are available with realistic physics and the incredible new graphics engine.

I want to experience all those cars, not just a handful like GT3 offered.

To be fair, Tenacious, 200 + can hardly be called a handful. If it were 30-40, then perhaps. When I played Prologue, I only used cockpit view and it was perfect for me. I just can't play comfortably in any other view anymore.
As for the Countach and Veyron, it's easier for me because I have Forza 3 with those two in cockpit view so I won't be missing them as much as PS3 only owners.

I will definetly use standards as well. If you compare GT4 footage to the current standard variant in GT5 you will see a big improvement in how the GT5 standard car looks.

Some users are being abit picky about how 'bad' the standard cars look - they look very good IMO

i gonna use both type of cars. im driving bumper-cam, but of course i gonna peep the cockpit view out. most cars i like are standards, i dont care, the graphics are still top notch.

I figure I will want to use the premiums at first and admire the eye candy, but after awhile when I'm just playing for the fun of driving or to do online racing comps I don't think it's going to bother me at all premium or standard. Like the OP said, 220 odd premiums is a lot of car's and many more than almost all other racing games.
