Will these things ever be fixed?

I've been noticing a heck of a lot of new content and DLC has been coming to GT5...but despite all this....

-The AI still doesn't race, but just falls in line and drives the course with no personality and very, very rarely any mistakes. No pack racing.

-The AI are still like brick walls when it comes to collisions. Even on the hardest hits they only get a slight nudge and keep going.

-Damage still seems non-existent. With the damage on full, a 250 mph head-on impact into a wall only left the car with a slight scratch in the nose.

They seem to think the AI is great. Haven't done much to speed them up over the years or even to fix the obvious bad lines. They have made them slightly more aware (even ignoring the parking update) however they still have a long way to go. But pace is their biggest flaw.

They do race one another occasionally, sometimes quite a few at once. But they clearly aren't aggressive enough when doing so. The usual disparity in their speed helps make such moments sadly infrequent. I'm not sure if just being more aggressive would be enough to create the sort of pack racing seen in NASCAR with an even field or if that might require even more complex changes.

The bot cars in a large percentage of (non pure arcade) racing games throughout gaming's history have been very resistant to collisions, almost as though they have three times the mass they should which only affects them in that situation. Maybe not right, but hardly a unique GT problem. Can't see them fixing that either.

Honestly, I'm not too hopeful they'll fix any of those issues even in GT6 given their history. They have GOT to correct the parking issue though.

But if you managed to head-on a wall at 250mph with heavy damage and only recieved a scratch, count yourself very very lucky. If you only mean visual damage, that's another matter. PD are for whatever reason very reluctant to do damage at all. They clearly didn't do it very well with the bendy headlights and all, but it's not the simplest thing to get right and clearly not a priority. Then there's the sheer number of cars - new and legacy - to work on. They apparently had an early version that appeared to look better but must have scrapped it due to it having major flaws or taking too much time or a lawyer getting scared(or cocky). Hopefully they can do something about for GT6 because it is pretty silly as it stands.

Probably won't be any improvements or changes in this AI behavior. But I've had a few experiences where the AI has turned into me and hit my car, usually after I really mess with the AI driver quite badly. So it seems there actually is some intelligence.

Again probably won't be any changes or improvements here. When cycling the UCD, I take the X1 to A-Spec/beginner/Sunday Cup/Tsukuba 2 laps. I can easily punt the AI off the track into the wall -- my hardest hits cause them to fly nicely. Not sure why you can't get them to move much.

I don't think the PS3 is powerful enough to render any better damage modeling while still running smoothly with the good graphics it's putting out in GT5. Not much hope here either.

If they are fixed, it will be in GT6.

GT6 is going to fix GT5?

No, that's not what I meant :ouch: I mean the things that we're longing for or wanting to be fixed are going to be fixed in GT6. So technically I'm saying no, they won't be fixed.

The PS3 can handle a more robust AI and a more greater experience in terms of damage, visually speaking at least, but I think it's more a subject between PD and the car's look than any other thing.
The mechanical damage in the game is cool, but I would prefer a more specific information about what is happening and how is happening.
I play always with heavy damage, even online (...I think that's the reason why my lobby is at best, up to 5 people hehehe)

It would be great to see more detailed info of the mechanical aspects of the car.
If you look closely the specs of the console, yes, it lacks of RAM, but it still has a lot of power inside and I can assure you, it can handles that but blame just PD...
Kaz needs to realize that not everyone plays clean, and sometimes, I think it would be rather cool to see them paid for their actions hehehe...
