i'm talking about the part and settings menu. in gt 1 and 2, the information about parts and how to use them where typed in such a small format my eyes used to water while reading them. in gt3 it was big enough but also annoying enough that you quit reading half way through.............i mean side scrolling is for reading stocks, not information. and to make things even worse, most of the info is translated horribly from japanese to english. so that you would know what i mean, take a look at the TOE menu under ettings, read all the way through and tell me what you think.
annoying, simply annoying. let's hope they get it right this time :dopey:

Why don't you turn on the TV then you can read it.

yeah, it's pretty hard to read that side-scrolling. it's not exactly just reading the words, it's waiting for that annoying scroll to go accross the screen and not having the text in a more easy format like a paragraph. that's what i want

He must be using a crapy RF adapter. I have gold plated component inputs and I have no problem reading the text.

they should make it so u can scroll by your self and it should be a up and down kinda thing not a side thing... or at less make it a little slower or something

Slower!!??!! that thing was going as fast as the Alto!

Same here (gold plated components), I got no problem with the text in GT2...

I find it fine. A little bit monotonous (sp) but easy to read.

Yep it is a big word, I hated that scrolling text, in GT1 and 2 I sometimes wanted to read up on a car, in GT3 I never bothered because it took ages to get past what size the wheels were and there wasn't much info there in the end anyway.

I get the general feeling mentioned here for the information about tuning parts and settings - It would be a lot more useful if you could control the speed or see the whole paragraph in one go

Yeah, just having the whole paragraph there would be good. Like nest to the button you click on to see specs, maybe a button to see info. It would be better than reading that little bar:grumpy:

TV screens were never designed to deliver large volumes of text. Finding ways to deliver that text to people with a huge variety of screen sizes is a challenge most designers would struggle with.

Personally I had no problem with the scrolling box of GT3, I found it far more readable than either of the first 2 releases. If they implemented that again but allowed you to control the scroll by selecting the box and pressing left right, or perhaps increasing the box size to ~3 lines, I think it would be a good thing.

Well theyve had alot of time to get it right, GT4 isnt rushed like GT3 so hopefully its alot better this time.

I think there will be lots of voice-over in GT4... Don't know if it'll be only for the race descriptions and Licenses tho.

I would like to see maybe vertical scrolling text. Maybe it would scroll up slowly so that you can read three or four lines of text. One time, I tried to make a Rich Text File (RTF) of what Gran Turismo 3's text reads so that I can refer to it when I had my computer on. I had to keep redoing everything because while the text was easy to read, it wasn't very pleasing to the eyes. If you seen that picture of the new HUD from "GT4 Prologue: Signature Edition" which featured the swanky new HUD style. The text seemed to have been done in "Arial," like on most computers. The font is pretty readable, plus it is stylish. Perhaps this can be used in scrolling text. The lettering would have to be bold enough and readable enough for almost anyone can see the text scroll by.

Will they get it right? I have no real answer, but if I had to guess... yes.

That or he can't read.

Cause I have a little 16 inch TV and I can read it fine.

Geez, I can't believe this.
Who cares?
Spend more time tuning your car, and you won't have to read the "evil" side scrolling text, because you will know what that setting does.

"This game sucks! I'm not gonna play it anymore...did you see that crappy side-scrolling text?!"

I also like to read the car descriptions not just tuning descriptions.

all the license tests in GT4:P have voice-over instructions instead of text.

Only thing i ever had trouble with is figuring out which way was + and - on the toe settings.

Perhaps a decent tuning guide can be included as a printed booklet, instead of having any crappy scrolling low-res type. Preferably something writen in english, instead of some confusing and poorly-translated from Japanese?

^ not bad... but at least maybe have a pop-up or text screen that tells you what the settings do (and clearly indicate changes in which direction will do what). The side scroll in GT3 was horrendous... especially if you needed to recap a certain part... had to wait for the message to repeat.

That was pretty damn hard to discern.

I didn't know they had voice overs in GT4P, seems like a waste of space to me.

Meh, I don't mean to kiss ass but you'll probably get a fine GT4 tuning guide here...

Good idea though..
