In professional mode, after you win, one of the 4 cars is the Jaguar XJ220 Race Car. Can I save the game untill the last race and then play the last race untill I get the XJ220? Also, is there a way to get the car you want by pushing X when the circle is under it? I tried but the circle kept moving after I hit X.
 
Pushing X has not seemed to work. The cars are chosen by random.

Your replay trick will work but you don't even have to race the last race. Just start the race and then exit it. You will then be brought to the trophy screen and our prize car.
 
Just reload the game. It will take you directly to the point in the series race that you last saved. Skip your last race and hope to get the car. If you don't just repeat the steps until you do.
 
No. Save after the NEXT TO LAST race. Then start the last race and run a few seconds before exiting the race. You will be awarded the championship prize on points. If it is not the car you want, DO NOT SAVE; use the Triangle button to go out to the main menu screen and reload the game. Repeat the steps above until you get your choice.

If you keep getting the same car, vary your running times by a bit - from a few seconds to a minute or so.
 
BTW, youdon't even have to race for a while. I do this trick and exit the race as soon as i enter (the starting line-up table is still visible) and I get a different car almost every time without even changing the time I am in the race. ONly sometimes, will I get the same car twice, but the third time a do it, it's another one.

So I don't think that the time you run is important in the selection of the car. It looks more random to me...
 
The selection is based on a random number generated by your lap times. For some reason I've found that I need to vary my times pretty widely in order to get the selection to open up a little.
 
That is strange...

I always quit the race at the same time (as soon as I can, before even starting the engine) and always manage to go through the 4 cars selection in about 5 or 6 tries, maybe up to 7 or 8 when I am not lucky...

But maybe it's because I am lucky, very lucky? :)
 
when i tried to get the XJ220 Race car, i had to vary times a bit. the gt-40 (which i already had) came up about 5 times in a row.
