This beautiful Gran Prix car, driven by David Cultard, was developed for the 1993 F1 series.

The most notable feature about the 15C is its gearbox. It is equipped with a CVT system (Continuously Variable Transmission) which means that instead of having a manual shift with multiple gears interlocking to provide various gear ratios, there are two cone shaped gears between which runs a heavy duty drive chain. As the car accelerates, these cones vary their distance from one another, and so the car has, in effect, dozens of gears, whereas in reality it only has one that varies in ratio while driving.

The result was that the FW15C has a very distinctive sound because of never actually changing gear, and that it was 1 second faster per lap than all of its opponents.
