I have just upgraded my broadband to 600K from 150k.

On the old 150K line the d/l speed on winmx would generally be around
15.00 K/s (sometimes going up to 17.00K/s)

Ive tested the d/l speed last night on winmx with the 600K connection, and the speed seems to be exactly the same as it was with the 150K ?

Do I need to change any settings on winmx for it to speed up the d/l process ?

Thanks

Settings > Internet Connection > choose your connection speed

Settings > Bandwidth Thottle > uncheck Limit Incoming Bandwidth

WinMX is a P2P system, meaning you download off other users. You can only download data as fast as the person you are download off can give it. So, you could have a 100mbit connection, but if the person you are downloading off only has 56k, you'd only get 5-6kb/s. For you to get the best speed possible out of your 600k connection, you need to download off someone who has at least 600k themselves.

Thanks Viper - I presume the settings option is in winmx - its just that Ive never seen a settings option before - I'll try it when I get home.

Shannon - I know about the other user having a different connection to me would make a lot of difference but I just thought it was a bit strange how it was exactly the same as my 150K connection speed.

I'll change the settings though and see how i get on

Thanks
