Am I just missing it, but where is the wind noise in GT5? I know you can still hear it, but I remember in GT4 it was really loud. I was especially noticeable when you first got a real racecar. I remember loving that sound when you go tearing down a straight, and it would go silent when you caught draft of someone. It was such a cool bit of feedback and really added to high speed races, I just don't notice it in GT5.

Totally agree. I thought prologue had it perfect when you get to about 170 the wind noise overpowers the engine. Take a veyron to ssr7 at top speed and tell me where the wind noise because it is barely...if at all noticeable. Very disappointing. I've been waiting for someone else to comment on this I thought I was just crazy.

Ok, I'm not just remembering things, here's a comparison.

GT5: Boring windless lap :grumpy:

GT4: In your face extreme wind! :)

Ok, well it's definitely nice to know I'm not the only one. I always loved it for drafting, the difference was amazing and sounded so cool to hear the wind go silent when you got close enough to someone.

The sound of the wind and tyres definitely did more for the immersion factor in GT4 than the cockpit camera shake does in GT5...

That should be a relatively easy fix for PD. 👍

I like it without wind :)
About the sound effect I think when other cars approaching you hear your noise level just goes right down. Why did they do that??

They also should boost up the engine noise from the other cars. It all has to be a bit louder. Also there has to be more difference between the loudness between cars. A 430 makes almost as much sound as let's say a Zonda that is so loud it isn't even allowed at some circuits. So the should balance that out a little better. And I don't think the wind noise was to extreme in GT4. You are going 300 km/h+ The air resistance is massive at those speeds.

I miss this noise too :(

It added an amazing feeling in the fast parts of the Nordschleife, especially Pflanzgarten II. With the rumble strip noise, that was scary and sexy at the same time...

Pure eargasm :p

yeah i miss the wind noise as well... but the amount of windnoise should depend on the shape/smoothness of the car, it's speed and sound deadning insulation; obviously race cars would have the loudest wind noise as they have no insulation and reach very high speeds. in my opinion a Veyron at 220mph should be quieter than a race car at the same exact speed... though both should have noticeably a lot more wind noise than they do in GT5 now.

Good to see that other people also missing the sound of the wind, just yesterday I was playing with my friends at high speed ring with a Silverado, and it was very difficult drafting........

GT5's world has no atmosphere...just like the moon:dopey:, so no wind:(
Too bad Jeff Gordon doesn't die due to lack of oxigen:odd:

ah yes, i thought something special was missing, they certainly have toned down wind noise, way too much.

Now the mirror shattered, and we will forever notice this now T_T

Set your sound to "small theater". Not too extreme, just perfect.

and +1 on the wind noise. It's non-existent in GT5. Really sucks immersion points, and really really takes the sense of speed away.

yea that sounds much better. Not overwhelming, but gives you the sensation of speed.

The engine in my car isn't too loud, but when I'm on the freeway at 70-80 I sure hear tire and wind noise a lot more than engine noise.

Thats the only thing they droped from GT4 that I liked

You can always get a fan if you like it that much...

They really need to re-implement this into GT5. It was an audial cue that helped detrermine wether or not I was in a draft:tup:

You can tell pretty well when you are in a draft in GT5... the car bosts like it has nitro...

People used to feedback that the wind was too loud in GT5P and GT4. The softer wind sound is probably PD's response to these feedbacks. Looks like it's too soft now.

The wind noise in GT5 Prologue was great, especially when using a surround sound system, in GT5 however it has been toned down to a seriously unrealistic level & that does contribute to spoiling the immersion somewhat.

WHAT A DIFFERENCE !!

It's amazing how the experience changes with the wind noise...well maybe like that is a bit too loud but it's fantastic.... why kaz....why there's no wind noise in GT5??

Yes it's a pity... and if you've ever driven 250+ km/h on the German Autobahn you'll know that the windnoise and tyre rumble can get quite exciting.

Losing the wind noise and tyre rumble (and the tunnel reverb effect!) all contribute to the dull, soulless sterility of GT5 compared to older versions. 👎

How can you hear the wind with your windows rolled up during a race....which BTW is illegal in most sanctioning bodies....
