Hi Guys,

I've searched the forum & news posts, but havent seen these before..

I've pulled them off the Official Gran-turismo webpage, so I guess they've been seen before, but I cant recall seeing them on GTP.

Take a look:

Sorry if these have been seen before..

They showed the wind tunnel twice. Whether we'll know for sure if it means anything or not, remains to be seen, as well as a lot of other features we're not sure about that might make it into the game...unfortunately.

Also, Kaz told us to expect a lot more trailer featuring new cars like this. I don't recall any other recently after the FT-86...maybe the Lexus Data Logger Visualization?..nah

I've never seen the screens. I remember we pulled screens from the video to get a better look at the dyno

I hope you can actually use the dyno and wind tunnel in the game.

I'm guessing it's more likely they'll make it a cut-scene once you've added aero mods to your car & just for show..

But I'm with you, it would be awesome to tune your car aerodynamically, adding winglets, spoilers & diffusers making that extra hundredth of a second count for a grid spot in qualifying.

I just cant believe it might be another 7-8 months before Japan even gets GT5..

Yep, it would be a cool feature, but aerodynamic theory aside, how many of us would really be able to take advantage of a 100th of a second improvement per lap? Even a 10th of a second per lap would be hard to quantify in real qualifying and race conditions. The reality is, it would be a gimmick at best, and as such, I can't really see one being included.

I think it would be pointless to add a windtunnel unless you're able to create parts yourself, if it will be just adding an existing bodykit i assume those have already been tested in a windtunnel IRL.
Maybe a combination of different bodykits/spoilers, etc. would make a windtunnel useful, although my guess is that it just makes a nice picture.

We don't know that it will be a staggered release. There's a good chance they might do a global launch.

A gimmick is all it needs to be. If body customisation is good, visually seeing the drag increase/reduce is just a nice feature to have.

I liked it in Need for Speed Prostreet, such a simple feature to implement, I don't see why they shouldn't include one. A dyno would be good to, to get 0-60 times etc. Which you can't do in previous GT games without testing yourself.

All it needs then is a number that shows you the drag changing as you add/remove parts. It doesn't need a full-blown animated tunnel. Actually, having to load and use the tunnel each time would get pretty old pretty quickly. A calculated 0-60 time is all that is needed too - not bothered about doing dyno runs.

Rofl, this aint formula one. I swear i have seen wind tunnels being used in a previous gt, or maybe another game? maybe it was in my dreams :dunce:

Actually the wind tunnel use would be to approximate topspeed, and the affects of your downforce. From that you can decide on how you set the downforce of the car generally, then take the findings out to the track and see how well they hold up in real time driving. Dyno can also be used to set how you have your gear ratio set, accel and deceleration. Can be a gimmick, but it can also be of use. One thing i just want is for cars to be represented in the game, exactly how they are in real life. I hate cars that have adjustable suspension in real life, but in the game it's not adjustable until you purchase a racing suspension, wtf?

I don't think it's a Photo mode location. I think its something to do with tuning your car's aerodynamics etc. Because in the video there's a fan that appears to be moving and a stream of air (or whatever it is) going over the car.

i worked 3 hours in a scale 1:1 wind tunnel and got the drag coef of a Focus down by 33% without any spoilers, just small addons and winglets

Regardless, I think it would be nice as a photo location and the ability to turn the lights of the room on or off for pictures.

Right, and...? If it's that easy, why do companies like Ferrari spend millions on people and technology to design their road and race cars to be as aerodynamically efficient as possible? All they needed to do was hire you, right?

So you got the drag coefficient of a Focus down by 33%. That's like saying you beat me at a game of chess. Relatively easy to do in the scheme of things, but does that mean you could beat a grand master?
