Windows 10 shutting down issue

Hello.

My brother upgraded his laptop from Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 a couple of days a go and now it doesn't shut down. He's left it for hours and nothing happens.

I've had a look on internet about what could be the possible issue and found there could be many (as always). I thought I would ask on here first to see where people recommend looking first to identify the issue?

EDIT: Fixed using the quick fix in this video! . Now to change a few things so it doesn't run so slowly.

Haven't read through this thread but there seems to be a problem with clean installs.

If I should upgrade to W10 from W8.1 (laptop, only a few months old), can I do a clean install (w10) after a while or not?

Some say that it is not always possible to do a clean Windows 10 install after the upgrade.

You can do a clean install of Windows 10, after you've upgraded from 7/8/8.1.

Most likely because they downloaded the wrong version after the upgrade.
