We just got a new laptop and it came with windows 7 which I like, its much better than vista ( or as I call it, the new Windows ME ). My problems are when I'm typing like for example here on GTP, It will sometimes go into private browsing or close FF down or bring up the print screen, I have it just select and delete everything I just typed and bring up the open image browser all the time causing me to have to retype everything I just typed most of the time, sometimes It won't close and I can hit undo, but its still very annoying. Is there anyway to disable shortcuts within FF? Its very annoying to type a huge response or such just to have to retype everything I just wrote:ouch:

Why would you be typing shortcuts while typing text? you need to hold down alt or ctrl to do that.

I have no clue, thats what the problem is. Its just doing shortcuts even though I'm not doing any of the hotkeys so I want to just disable all shortcuts within FF, I don't use them anyways, but I can't find an option for the shortcuts to enable and disable them.

Maybe you're accidentally brushing the touchpad with your finger as you type? Happens to me all the time.

Sorry the reason I asked is because as far as I know you can't change the shortcut keys natively. But yeah checkout that link Nick posted.

Well you could get this addon called keyconfig and then change the key for the shortcuts that are getting in you way.

I will give that a try when I get home, I'm starting to think its a problem with the laptop its self. I think it happens when I am putting pressure on the laptop with my palms while typing, like a normal typing position basically. I'm thinking it after tryying to figure it out because when it happens I will pull my palms up and carefully type because I think I'm hitting the alt or cntrl keys. But there is just no way I am hitting them using normal home row typing, going to give it some tests while putting pressure on it to see if it happens, if so then the alt and cntrl keys are getting pressed, but from the inside so I will be taking it back for an exchange if so!

Well try to type with a usb keyboard to be really sure.

Another good idea I didn't think of:dunce: I have been using the one I had on our desktop for my 360, I will plug it up to my laptop when the kids are in naptime mode and jist type like crazy.
