Now, I have a really annoying problem.

When I try to access my digital camera, or my Camera dump folder via Windows Explorer, Explorer commits an illegal operation. It is only these 2 areas, and only since I took one video. I am currently sending the video file to someone via MSN, just to show them the vid, and we shall see if it does the sakme thing to their PC.

But my question is, if I act quick enough, I can play the file, and it works fine, so I know the file isn't corrupt, so what could be causing this? It is quite frankly, bloody annoying!

Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I am pulling my hair out trying to figure this out.

Hello Gooseter,

-What operating system are you using? (if it's XP, then SP1? SP2?)
-What type of file is the video?
-So you only have one video in the folder?
-Has this ever happened before you put the video in the folder?

Sorry

Windows XP SP2
About 5 videos in the folder, along with a whole heap of photos
The videos are all AVIs, and I have never had this problem before

-edit-

The other person had no problems with it, so i think it may be my PC, I also tried to open it in Digital Media Converter, but that did the same thing. Closed when I opened the folder

-edit2-

Also, there are no problems whatsoever with other folders that contain videos.

I am thinking ANOTHER format may be in order

Try restoring the computer to an earlier restore point. I used to have the same problem and that fixed it for me.

Hmm, that is a strange problem. What happens when you move the video file in question to another folder?

-How does the computer behave when you open your "camera dump" folder? (after moving the file)
-How does the computer behave when you open the folder that you moved the file to?

I've never had this problem so I probably won't be much help. I can suggest:

-checking the Microsoft Knowledge Base
-checking if your camera manufacturer has any Support Forums
-searching strictly computer forums
-just mess-around with the files and folders (such as moving the video file to a sub-folder or another folder, etc.)

It would seem that it is more than one file, as I moved the file to it's own folder, on a different physical drive, and it crashes when I open that folder, and also when I open the dump folder.

I made the mistake of purchasing a camera from a manufacturer that doesn't have a website (as far I can find), it is an OTEC DV-380 Digital Video Camera. MKB didn't seem to return any results, and I am about to try to fiddle with the files, and try to track down the problem files (assuming it isn't all of them).

I have also now formatted the SD Card, and will see if that helps at all.

Thanks for your help dougiemeats
