Any got it? If you do, please post your impressions.

I've been looking at it for a while, but thinking of waiting until the beta comes out first...

Apart from it doing some nice things on your desktop, I can't really say I'm impressed. Besides. It's SOOO Alpha, I wouldn't want to mess with it on a day to day encounter.

I wouldn't touch it with a 30-foot ethernet cable. Of course, you knew that already. ;)

No, I'm just well-known for having a heavy prejudice against Windows. But after spending 5 hours troubleshooting a friend's PC yesterday, I think it's more than justified (whoever designed Windows's directory structure clearly had his head up his crack).

You are bound to think that anything you are unfamiliar with is unintuitive.

Microsoft may do many things imperfectly, but it is far to soon to pass jusgements on an OS which we have only seen very prelimiary screenshots of.

Agreed.

Windows, like anything else, takes advanced users to do advanced things. I'm sure, for me to try and do something on a Mac, it'd take me a good 5 hours, easy. That doesn't mean I'm stupid, or that Macs suck, but that I don't really know what I'm doing.

Very true.

As for Longhorn, man I don't like the sound of it. I'm going to hang on to using 2K and XP (Although I can't stand the normal XP install, it's ok after i've removed everything I don't use), after that i'm going to make myself use some sort of Linux distro. Also I don't like the idea of the WinFs filesystem that much either, I suppose it's good if your lazy and don't like organising your files at all. But I do so it doesn't seem that usefull of a feature for me anyway.

Yeah, the pre-release really just sucked. If that's what is to be expected of the resale version, count me out. It was just a shiny GUI over the same OS. Oh, and did I mention that it lacked a serious Control Panel AND took over most of your available system memory in the same swing? I'd rather get XP64 when it ever comes out. Same GUI as what I got, but twice the bits. Mmm... sounds like a great chip commercial.

I'm perfectly content with XP Pro. However, I probably will download Longhorn when it finally releases and put it on either my other computer or a separate partition of this one.

excuse the my ignorances but what is Windows Longhorn, and what does it do?

So far it does nothing....

It's the successor to Windows XP.. Start worrying about it in a year and a half...
