Windows not recognizing USB disks?

I hate Windows, I really do. But, since I currently have not other choice (FC2 laptop is not with me) I have a problem.

My windows machine won't recoignize any USB storage devices (CF card, USB stick, etc.). They don't work on any of the ports, the light on the devices come on and everything, but they just don't appear in "My Computer."

Can anyone help me?

Bah.

But I'm using XP Pro with a newer Sony VAIO. The device manager actually shows "USB Mass storage device", but it does not show up in "My Computer".

Sounds like Windows is having a problem assigning the drive a drive letter. That's why it doesn't show up in My Computer.

Ah, I see the problem. It was considering it a network drive. Strange. Thanks for your help anyway.
