what will the winner of gt academy get? i know they will get honor and glory, but do you think they will get to test drive for gt5 or something? something a bit more "exclusive" than driving the 24h dubai raice, if possible...
I think gettting a drive in a 24H race would be good enough! Not to mention the publicity you would get plus all the free stuff Sony and PD will chuck your way!
im not saying that driving in the 24h isnt exclusing enough, im just wondering what you guys think will happend after the race, will the winners get some kinda contract or something with sony/polyphony?
If they turn out to be fantastic in the race they may get the attention of people who know people. Other than maybe being given some free Sony stuff I don't see thier connection with Sony extending beyond the race, unless they do really well and Sony decide then to use them for other things. Likely as an example of how good GT5 can make you in real life, even though he'd probably have just been a great driver anyway.

The competition will cost sony/nissan approx £170,000 for that winner. The overall cost is a lot lot higher when you consider everything that everyone else gets free. The winner gets 10-16 races here in the UK at national level prior to an opportunity to race in Dubai.
Motorsport is expensive. Giving away a car (the GT4 launch comp gave a Nissan 350z GT4 edition away here in the UK - I came 2nd ) would have been much cheaper. But this comp is way cooler, and theyll get to say that someone trained up on GT5p was good enough to race in real life.
Its just so they can put a 'this game breeds real racing champions' seal of approval on the GT series... personally I don't blame them, if this guy or girl becomes real racing material in future the inital investment would be well worth it.

If the GT5P-trained racer did well, they might well get noticed by a real team.
If they did poorly, then they're unlikely to get anything more than a brilliant opportunity to race in something they otherwise wouldn't have a chance with.
