winning a series race

when you win all golds in a series race you win two things, a car and more money. what are the prizes based on, trophys or points? if you get the most points but don't get all golds, what happens? do you win less money if you don't place first?

You still win the same amount for the series, but you only win cash related to the place you finish. I.e. seoncd place gets less cash than first place.

If you click on the Series Info button it will tell you this.

Prize car awards are random, and based on the time that you end with.

Do a quick search for "save before last race" and you'll get a slew of notes about this way to circumvent teh "Random" award.

To win the series, all you need to do is finish with more points than the AI.

...which will usually allow you to skip out on the last race or so, depending upon the overall duration of the series.
