i've had the game the past 4 or 5 days...

it's about time they released a new version...

i must say say there's been quite a bit of improvement upon the game with alot of new can cool animations/actions/movements etc...

but there's learning curve allover again i must say.. the shooting, passing, and crossing mechanisms have changed slightly.. with more User and less AI control.. which is good for more precesion.. but when u're "used" to AI doin more for u.. it takes a while to adjust...

what do you guys all think?

hehe nope.. my copy is all in japanese.. not a shred of english.. :P
i just play it based on memory of the old menu's from previous versions... only problem is player names are in Japanese too so i can't subsitute based on roster only on the skill it shows unless i start memorizing player numbers (that's goin too far)

i play it mostly for Multi player.. hardly against the CPU

Winning Eleven 8 is equivelant to Pro Evolution Soccer 4 is it not? I also assume it will be out soon if it's already released in Japan, though i could be wrong, look at Final Fantasy Tactics.

I've had it for about 2 weeks, i'm still pissed off about the slowdown. Although now at least I can rip the disc to my pc and apply a translation patch.

yes, yes it is, but i've noticed small changes in the game between Winning Eleven and PE.. but it's almost the same..

www.evo-web.co.uk is a good place to start, their forums have plenty of guides to patching. And yes you need a chipped ps2 and a dvd burner. I had winning 11 7 with a champions leauge patch, fully translated and with every team with kits and sponsors correct it was so damn awesome.

I managed to buy WE8 for only £35 from Lik-sang.com with no shipping costs, although it took a week to arrive. But it was worth it.

PES games are slightly tweaked, things like ball physics and shooting are always a little different. I tend just to stick to the Winning 11's because of the neat patches people make.

nice.. i'll check it out..

my PS2 is chipped.. but i don't have a DVD burner :(

I just got one this weekend, i've just seen they have a new patch on evoweb it's a translation one. Although it's not complete, so i'm gonna burn it to a DVD-RW and hope my ps2 reads it.

Edit: This game won't be out in the US for a while, it will be released as Pro Evo 4 in Europe/Aus first and then it will be released in America a while after.

Only thing is, that they will constantly come out with different patches. Although the translation is a good thing if you can't read japanese or can't remember the exact menu names and stuff.

I'll see how it goes when i get home from work.

Yep.

WE6 = PES2
WE5 = PES
WE4 = Iss Pro Evo 2 (PsOne)
WE3 = Iss Pro Evo (PsOne)
WE2 = Iss Pro (PsOne)
WE1 = First iss on PSOne

Although there was an ISS 98 so i'm not sure if that's correct. Also there was (still might be?) another Konami football series Called Iss, which was ****. So I think they discontinued it.

Confusing huh?

So if WE8 is complete does that mean it will be the same as PES4. I know they are the same game but I think PES4 is due out in October here (UK). I though the point of this was so that the makers would have time to swap players round after the European transfer market closes.
As teh game seems complete already does this mean Owen will still be at Liverpool :confused:

Nice lemme know how the patch works.. if it's good then i'll pull some strings and get my hands on a burner

I patched it and managed to get it working first time, only problem is that it crashes on certain parts of the ML mode and it still needs a save with all the player names in English.

Works for me though.

Oh and don't expect to see all the latest transfers in PES4, they rarely edit stuff like that from WE to PES.

I downloaded the dvd-rip already... but i´m waiting for a nice patch to come out... with full translation and sponsors on the shirts and stuff...

Winning Eleven is the most played game on PS2 here in Brazil, and some people can come up with pretty good patches... they take off the weakest european teams and replace for brazillian ones, change some stadiums, tweak the playability, music, update the teams with the current players. Much improved from the original game. =)

I think there already are a few Brazillian teams in WE8, I think Boca Juniors are in. But i've been using River plate. :p

I know what you mean about the patches, I had the Wendetta Champions leauge one for WE7 and it was fantastic. I just hope it gets done quicker for WE8 than WE7.

international superstar soccer 64 is the same too?

damn, i knew there was a resemblance.
