I am planning on getting Winning Eleven 9 (aka Pro Evolution Soccer 5) later this year. I already have FIFA 2004, which I like, but I haven't played it in a while. I have read a few reviews for WE9, and it seems that it plays a better (but more difficult) game of soccer than FIFA, despite having only a few licensed teams (which I don't mind).

So, soccer fans... which do you like more?
 
FIFA for quick and fairly unrealistic/arcadsey gameplay. Winning Eleven for hard, realistic AI and very realistic/sim-ish game play.

Let's put it this way. FIFA is the Need For Speed of the soccer games, while WE/PES is the Gran Turismo (without the horrible AI ;))

Go with WE9! It's harder better and more realsitic.
I've played it myself, and it's really fun.

I don't know about that. I've played 9 and it seems to have lost something when compared to earlier entries in the series (my favorite was 6). They all murderize FIFA though. the controls are just perfect.
 
i never understood WE series. i hate the AI, the announcer calls "ribardo" and "donardo" also, i dont like the controls either...
 
It's not like that anymore, it's a lot better with names now. I'd still buy it even if they were all wrong anyway because the game is perfect.
 
The names were weird because Konami didn't have a licence for real names of players.

And PES(WE) owns stupid POS fifa game bilion times.Electronic Arts? More like Electronic Craps IMO.....
 
My mum is vacationing in Aruba with my grandmother, and I've asked her to look for WE9 for me. She'll be coming back friday night! :D Can't wait. 👍

Well, mostly because FIFA is an aracde game, but it sucks and it's less realistic than WE/PES. That's why....
Edit : The controls? Duh. In FIFA yo have to press the bloody triangle 50 times so can sprint and in WE/PES you just have to hold in R1.
Alot better....

And who the hell shoots with circle anyway?! That's like using brakes with circle in GT4!
 
I've played WE9 for three entire hours today and I've thoroughly enjoyed every match I've played. I was underwhelmed by the sound effects, the player models look a bit awkward, the commentary is somewhat mediocre, and the manual is horribly complex. But none of that matters. THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!!
 
Get PES5 and put it in Spanish language. That commentary is the best, provides great laughs when I'm playing with friends. :lol:
 
Nice Mr.Boy! I had a hard time with getting used to the game.
But overall it really is an awesome game! :D
 
I think I will put the commentary in spanish. Its probably better that way, even if I can't understand a word they say.

Oh, and um, I got World Tour Soccer 2006 from my cousin in Aruba. Probably some sort of April Fool's Day gift!

Me and my friends can understand most of what is said because it's similar to Portuguese, but the way he talks is what makes it so funny.
 
PES lately has been very, very poor compared to the last 3 Fifas. The latest Fifa gets a perfect 10/10 in one magazine. By the way, in Japan will the lates PES be called Winning Eleven Eleven? Only the Japanese can get away with game titles like that......
 
IMO Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 is done VERY well this year.... 2010 was not good and 2009 was ok... but they really went all out with this... I didnt even look at the Fifa demo wehn I played this demo first...
 
Fifa for me lol. No i'm not a fag and I know what real football is...it has lisenced teams and my mates play it all the time so I can go online with fifa. Plus custom audio :D

Agree. That is the main reason I have always went with Fifa, even back when it was rubbish. Saying that, the Fifa games have never been so bad they were unplayable. I'm just glad they got their act together the last 3 years. Now we have got proper gameplay to go with the licensing.
Pro Evo's made up teams and players has always been a joke, and it always put me off, no matter how good it supposedly was.

PES has always had custom option files... So the made up teams will be gone for me soon... Just need to wait for it to go live, if it hasnt already.. The full Champions League license in PES is a major plus now too.
