Im interested to know what your thoughts are on the win ratio in this game and how you handle it. I find that even in an equal car to the opponents I can generally win most of the races and im no god at this game. More so this is a problem with championships as I am still yet to lose one.Striclty speaking if this was a true driving experience you would not be able to win the majority of races (even schumacher hasnt done so , albeit with a great record). Do you think this is an issue with the game "letting" us win in order to make us (aka the mass market) happy? When I think about real racing series the midfield runners are often happy to finish in the top 5 or top 3, hoping that progress through the season with their current car or progress next year to a better car ...however with GT it its not a win its prob not a good thing for most of us.

Dont get me wrong winning is great but I think its far to easy to win everything in this game without the feeling of progression. Id love to see a system in Bspec for example where you start out rubbish and have realistic goals (say finish in top 5 or 3) as this would remove the god-syndrome of winning everything. As for A spec im not too sure.

And this post is not a rant about the "easiness of Aspec", more about win/race ratios

Waht are your win:race ratios and what do you think?

Drive a deliberately slower car, that's what I do

I think you're right in that no driver would expect to win every race/championship, especially across such a wide range of races (imagine the current F1 champion also winning NASCAR, rallies and karting events!). But remember, GT5 is the real driving simulator and not the real racing simulator. In real life you can't just restart a race if you don't win the first time! If people could only ever race each event once then you'd probably get a more realistic spread of results, but I doubt that would please anyone :)

Well there's the annual Race of Champions where top racers from different series compete against each other in various cars.
While I'm not saying that they may be able to go off and win series championships, they are still fairly competitive in most disciplines.

I suppose once you have the basics down it just goes down to getting used to the individual vehicles.

To take that even further, in RL racing you are normally able to run a specific race only on a weekend and to find a different race for your car you would most likely have to travel and race in a different place on the next weekend (if you have a "popular" type of car, many weeks later if not). So in the game that would mean races could be run only on weekends, on a different track each time, with weekdays devoted to travel (down time), tuning/repair and practice. How realistic do you really want to get?

Well, I for one always want to win, so I have no real problem with the skewed win ratio. I do, however, like races to be competitive, which is one of the reasons why I generally don't do much tuning at all. I'll usually enter a race with a car that I feel pretty confident I can win with, the Ferarri Italia in that Ferarri only event for example. The Enzos keep it competitive enough that I have to push, but I always feel like I know what the outcome will be, me in the lead by a second or two.

I think the problem with entering significantly underpowered cars in a championship event series, where you have to race against the same opponents in 3 or 5 consecutive races, is that generally the same AI cars will finish in the same places, with very little variation in those placements over the course of the entire series. For example, if I play the Tuning Car Grand Prix championship series and win every race, the Amuse S2000 GT1 Turbo will nearly always come in second. It may not be realistic for me to always come in first, but for the other AI cars to nearly always finish in the same places is just as unrealistic, and it also makes it impossible for me to average a second or third place finish (more realistic) throughout the series and still win based on points. I do agree with the idea that the game would be better if you could average a second or third place finish and still win a series based on points, but the game, as it is, doesn't seem to be set up that way.
